Thankfully I live in Osaka and I'm far away (about 900km) from the epicenter of Miyagi, but being on the 16th floor of my work building, it was swaying back and forth for a good 5 minutes. I was actually afraid that the structure wouldn't keep and it'd come apart. Still, this is by far the biggest earthquake I've ever experienced in my six years in Japan, even worse than the Niigata earthquake I felt while I was in Tokyo. At least I was on ground level when that hit. Being on the top floor of a big building is not.... very comforting.
