A good man is complicated

A Good Man is Hard to Find by Flannery O’Connor was by far my favorite short story that we have read thus far in class. I was not a fan of most of them because I felt that they lacked depth. A good man is hard to find was thrilling to read because I honestly had no idea it would end the way it did. When the grandmother mentioned “The Misfit” it was foreshadowing. I thought it was just something the author had entered for filler, or to tell you a little bit about the grandmother. I am curious about at the end when “ The Misfit” said that she was my mother. I am conflicted as to what he meant, because the story did make it out to sound as if the grandmother was a widow; however you would expect the grandmother to recognize her son. I think that she just reminded him of his mother. If this is the case then he probably did not have a good relationship with his mother. Even though towards the end “
The Misfit” said that his parents were some of the best people. I there must be something severely wrong with him if he shot someone as a reaction to recognizing similarities between the grandmother and his mother. I really enjoyed this story because I was continuously guessing what was going to happen next in the story. I wonder if the two hench men of “The Misfit” broke out of prison with him.
