Golden Week (1)

May 01, 2016 20:23

I may or may not have mentioned recently that we have a thing called Golden Week at the end of April and beginning of May.  Basically, April 29, May 3,4,5 are all various separate public holidays so some people take the days in between off as well to make it a week long holiday hense the name Golden Week.  I have just the public holidays off this year so I had last Friday off.

It was a very nice day - here's a new picture of Mt. Fuji from Friday

but very very windy and I wanted to do something special with the kids who also had the day off, so we negotiated with hubby for a karaoke/bowling day out.  Originally hubby suggested going to the onsen hotspring baths too, but our reservation for the karaoke and bowling turned out to be a little too late to fit that in.  Audrey was pretty disapointed not to be able to go to the baths too, but we promised her we'd go on Sunday.

Anyway, here is a picture of Audrey and hubby bowling(10 pin - there's no 5 pin here in Japan).
We all suck at it but we had a blast.

And here are some MP3 files - very very short partial clips - one of Alex singing Moscow by the Genghis Khan (a German group) in German.  That is a really fun song to sing at karaoke.  You can hear me singing along on the "hey"s LOL.  The second one is Alex and Julian singing together, since we don't have that very often.  It's the theme song for Evangelion - even I recognized it.  The reason for the audio only files is Alex is getting shy of seeing his face on the net :P

Alex and Julian in Zankoku na Tenshi no Teze

They both have such rich voices <3

Saturday, I had a regular work day and we had our wine night as usual, and Sunday, we went to the hotsprings as promised - after going out to the park for some badmitton and soccer.  The place is pretty close to our home - there are many hotsprings around Hachioji area - but not too close so I don't meet up with any of my students LOL

This was the main outside bath, a bit hotter than inside to make up for the cold air.  Audrey likes the outside baths the best because she doesn't last long with the hot baths.

Outside was also these little tub baths - and Audrey and I shared one of these for a bit.

My favorite inside bath is this one - a milky bath called the silk bath.  It has little bubbles that are very soothing.  This one is not such a hot bath so you can stay in it for quite a long time.

After the baths, I spent some time in the sauna and the cold bath as well before getting out.  I think we stayed in for an hour or so.

Monday I have work, but Tuesday we have invited friends over for dinner.  Looking forward to that :D
