IC Information:
Name: Marie Mjolnir
Fandom: Soul Eater (anime)
Timeline: End of the series!
Age: Mid to late twenties? I'm guessing.
Appearance: Blonde hair, yellow eyes, eye-patch over the left eye. The patch has a lightning symbol on it, and the pattern is repeated on her skirt. She wears a black shirt.
Abilities: First, the woman has incredible amounts of strength. Just by herself. She can literally turn into a large tonfa, so her strength seems to reflect the incredible crushing ability of that particular form. She can also turn her arm into a large hammer-- jokes about hammerspace go here. She can also generate electricity in her own body, which might explain the multitude of lightning bolt symbols all over her. She can also use this generated electricity as a sort of power charge, increasing her Meister's (weapon wielder's) speed and reaction time.

Her soul is also known to have a calming property. She can use it to instill a sense of calmness on the people she "resonates" with. (Resonation being when two souls harmonize their wavelengths.)

Personality: Marie is an incredibly kind and caring individual. She makes an effort to be there for anybody who needs any kind of support, and is often considered to be very motherly to most people. She's very friendly, and is the most steadfast of friends. She fights for her friends and doesn't afraid of anything. She'll give just about anyone a chance, even those who are generally disliked by most other people.

She's also incredibly lazy. Truly, very lazy. She avoids work as much as humanly possible; in fact, in the amount of time and effort she takes to avoid work, she could've just done the job and been done already. Her whole decision of becoming a Death Scythe was to retire. Unable to do so, she chose to be assigned to the Oceania branch, where she perceived things as being more peaceful (and subsequently, less work). However, when she was transferred to Shibusen to partner with Stein, she found she enjoys teaching greatly, to the point where she puts quite a bit of herself into her work.

Marie is, as previously stated, a very loyal person. And that's a wonderful trait-- but in some cases, she takes it to a toilet-pulverizing extreme. Her main goal in life is to find a husband and settle down... which means that this, combined with her extreme devotion, means that any boyfriend she picks up is placed under a lot of pressure, and tend to leave her. It got so bad that she decided to marry a toilet-- for all of a minute, before her friend Azusa pointed out the flaws in her reasoning. Then, Marie flew into a rage over being "cheated on" and completely destroyed it. Poor toilet never stood a chance. It's a trait that works both for her and against her, most certainly. It also leaves her vulnerable to betrayal; Crona was able to take advantage of her loyal, trusting personality and slip a snake that amplifies madness in the people Marie is close to.

Another thing the toilet scene shows, though, is the incredible depth of emotion Marie has. She can be intensely happy one moment, then off in an incredible rage the next. It really goes hand in hand with her compassion and empathy-- it's very easy for her to show her sincere desire to help and cheer someone up, since she can't help but show what she's feeling. She's very honest in just about everything she does.

On the other hand, this betrayal was also forced by someone controlling Crona himself, which allowed Marie to forgive him despite what it wound up causing, demonstrating the incredible amount of compassion she houses in her heart.

History: Once upon a time, in a galaxy far, far away, in the peculiar planet called Earth, a demon king called the Kishin spread chaos everywhere it possibly could, eating as many pure souls as possible to become as powerful as the god of Death, Shinigami. His very existence causes souls to go into chaos if left unfettered; this situation is called "Madness", for future reference. Shinigami managed to seal the Kishin, and rooted his soul to the place where he was sealed, then built Death City and founded Shibusen to prevent the rise of another Kishin. Shibusen is the place where Weapons and Meisters are trained. Throughout their training, Weapons collect corrupted souls-- called kishin eggs-- and the souls of Witches to turn into more powerful weapons. These weapons are referred to as "Death Scythes". Marie is a Death Scythe, as it's a title for a Weapon who has collected 99 kishin eggs and one witch soul. (Spirit Albarn, a fellow Death Scythe, is the only Deat Scythe that has taken Death Scythe as a name-- as his weapon form is actually a scythe.) In her weapon form, Marie is known as the Demon Hammer.

As a student, she was a classmate and peer of Dr Franken Stein, who became her first crush. He, however, never found out about it, and they remain simply good friends even to this day. Perhaps picking up on the simple fact that Stein is a little (...a lot) on the unstable side, she's particularly sensitive around him, and as a loyal friend, defends him whenever possible. This means that later, when the Kishin escaped his seal through the help of the Witches, Marie was able to partner with Stein with a minimum of fuss on both sides. In fact, her only real complaint was that she'd have to work.

After pairing up with Stein, and moving in to keep an eye on him, Marie was assigned to teaching duty in Shibusen. This is where she discovers that she actually likes this kind of work. She also meets and befriends Crona, a child Medusa (the main Witch antagonist) had raised to try and turn into another Kishin. Crona was recovering from the crap things Medusa put him through, though eventually the witch caught up to him. She used Crona to spike Marie's coffee with the aforementioned Madness-amplifying snake, which means that when she resonated with Stein later in a fight for a lost tool called BREW, he went completely bonkers. As opposed to the just plain weird he was before. They lost the tool and failed the mission as a result, and had to withdraw.

The students that had been with them during the fight left to try and recover the tool themselves-- Marie blamed herself for the shift in responsibility, though Stein does comfort her and says the blame should be placed on him. In the meantime, Medusa came to Death City with information on Arachne, the one who stole BREW, and the location of said tool. At the same time, though, Arachne causes large waves of Madness to erupt, making her location obvious and rendering Medusa's point completely moot. She walks out unpunished, and Marie goes back home to find that Stein is missing.

Devastated, and certain that Stein had gone off with Medusa, Marie resigns from Shibusen and goes off with Crona to go track them down, on a personal mission. Shinigami had sworn that no Shibusen personnel would go after her, which is why Marie had to resign.

During this time, the war between Shibusen and the Kishin came to a head. They discover he's been staying with Arachne in a place called Baba Yaga's castle, and Shibusen launches an all-out attack on the castle. Maka and Soul, the two protagonists of the series, decide to go off and find Marie and Crona, thinking they need all the help they can get. They interrupt a battle between Medusa, Stein, Crona and Marie: Stein fighting Marie and Crona, and Medusa just laughing away off to the side. Maka and Soul's entrance interrupted Marie and Crona's plan then, but they improvise around the change by distracting Medusa long enough to get close to Stein, where Marie can then reach him to soothe his Madness-crazed soul. Marie then discovers that Medusa has been encouraging the Madness to grow, manipulating Stein's already present fears. Marie helps him realize that he need only be himself, outside opinions be damned, and clears his mind and soul to drag him back to sanity.

Marie and Stein then join back up as partners to aid in the battle against Medusa. Crona is badly injured, which causes Maka to grow angry enough to essentially exorcise Medusa from the body she's stolen, completely destroying her without harming the body at all, thanks to her anti-magic abilities. They then return to Shibusen with Crona, just in time to save his life.

Then Maka & Co go off to battle the Kishin himself. She and her friends are locked within a barrier of Madness with the Kishin, and Maka is forced to help her partner cleanse the Madness in his own soul (acquired from Crona during a fight early in the series). Despite the help it puts on their bond together, the group is almost defeated. Maka in particular takes a hard beating, and as she goes unconscious, the Weapon blood passed through her father's genes comes through to produce huge blades to fight him off until she regains argument. Maka and the Kishin have an argument about courage and she then manages to punch him so hard in the face that he bursts into glass. (Bet you saw that coming right? Right? ...No, I didn't think so.) He dies, and then the world is saved.

Roleplay Sample - Log:
“Hello? Oh damn...” Heels clicking down the hall, a certain blonde-haired death scythe slumps and groans softly at the empty hallway. “Don't tell me I'm lost again...! I know it was this way, my gut told me so! I'm gonna die here, I just know it!”

Marie Mjolnir, teacher and a death scythe who graduated from this academy... is lost in her own home again. On the way to the Teacher's Office. Again. She just can't believe her luck. Or lack thereof. “This sucks... I get the feeling I've been here before... I'm hungry... I bet everybody'll be gone by the time I get there... and I'll have to find my way back again...”

She stops, right where she is, and heaves a huge sigh. She doesn't bother to try and fight back a sob-- there's no one around anyway. She does, though, stomp on the ground and yell to the heavens.

“Isn't there somebody around hereeeeeeeeeee?!”

Roleplay Sample - Journal: (Written in first person, IC, as though it were a journal entry.)

[Marie looks and sounds tired, if not outright hurt, but her ever-present smile is still on her face, and she looks as cheerful as ever. Despite the dismal setting, gray and grim. If anything, she looks as though she's trying to use that cheer to push the drab away with a shot of color.]

So! I'm assuming I'm not the only one who's had a hard time today... If anyone would like some company, I certainly won't say no. And... if anyone needs a shoulder to cry on, I'm here for that, too. We're all stuck in this together, so let's do the best we can, okay? Be careful everyone.

[She waves at the camera, and her hands are bandaged to her fingers. Very obvious she's been having a hell of a time today. And very obvious she's determined to not let it bother her. She can't do anything about it now, after all.]

This game includes horrible mental and physical torture of your character. After reading the rules/faq for clarification, how do you expect your character to handle this and continue to function?

Marie's strength revolves around her ability to bounce back from whatever's getting her down. Depending on the depth of the damage, she should be able to heal herself with enough time and support, especially since her soul has a healing property. As for physical torture-- well, she's only human. She'll recover as normal people recover.

Questions? Comments? Crazed and creative statements? Those go here. I saw your current Marie's dropped, so I thought it would be alright to throw this up? If it's not, I can wait until the next round. C:
