As several of you know, three times over the last eight years or so, I've attended an event in McGregor, IA, called "Trader's Jubilee," a trade show for people who are mid- to late-1800s enthusiasts, and it usually featured food, entertainment, and one year had gambling.
Last year they mentioned it was going into different hands, and I sent a letter about the event. Here's what I got in response:
We might consider having the trade show only, without hiring entertainment.
The saloon would be open and we would have food for purchase.
We could have an open microphone if someone wanted to entertain and
perhaps some impromptu gun fights or stage performers.
It would likely be a pre-paid $10.00 charge for all.
Let me know if you would you attend on that basis.
It seems very scaled down, and I wonder: would it be worth it? I'm not sure it would.
