Unrealistic expectations

My friend Mario's been chatting with me on Bear411, and everytime I say something in English, he responds in a dialect of Arabic, causing me to then respond in Arabic.

... well, ATTEMPT to respond in Arabic.

I admit I'm very frustrated that I lack the ability to state some of the things I want to, and this was hurt even more when my friend said that I "speak such good Arabish," later stating that my sentence order was off. I want to communicate better and I'm annoyed with myself that I can't.

Keep in mind that any Arabic I DO know is all self-taught. I've never had a class, and many grammar points I DO know are either from self-study or through the good graces of modern Arabic having a plethora of similarities to Biblical Hebrew. So, there's a part of me that realizes how unrealistic it is to just pick it up and run with it after doing no serious study, but that doesn't stop me from getting annoyed with myself.

Sometimes even _I_ think I'm weird.
