Carl and I went to have pizza yesterday, and for whatever reason, the topic of conversation most of the time was what we wanted the other to do after we died. I have no idea where it came from, but now Carl knows about Jewish funerals and I know that Carl wants to be cremated and have a friend of his scatter his ashes

monshu and I aren't quite that advanced, but we've talked about our dying wishes plenty of times. He's written out the instructions and left them with his sister. I keep meaning to do something like that but, really, I don't much care. Whatever my survivors need to do to help their grieving is okay with me (though I love the thought of them having an Irish-style wake). Of course, knowing that they're fulfilling your wishes is one of the most helpful things for them, so I really should spell something out for them.
