Dear Dianne Warren,

Wow. That's it? Seriously? You're not even trying anymore.

Sincerely,

You’re surprised that it’s stale bathwater? It’s Diane Warren!

The song is more or less a veiled (and inferior) re-write of the old Diana Ross hit “It’s My Turn” anyway. Again, considering ALW composed it, who made a career out of stealing other peoples’ ideas, this isn’t surprising in the least.

What with equally underwhelming choices from Montenegro, Belarus and, now, Finland, this is shaping up to be the dullest Eurovision since 2001 (and 2001 was so dull it made me yearn for the “excitement” of 1987!). Hoping that Patricia Kaas’ tune will excite me, but not holding my breath.

What's wrong with Finland? The style's never been done in ESC before and is the best song selected so far. I personally enjoy it and it's quite catchy. I have far more issues with Montenegro and Belarus.

And my surprise is just how unevenly and choppy the words FLOW. I mean, it's not like Diane Warren doesn't natively speak English, yet you wouldn't know it by listening to the awkward rhymes and rhythm. They should consider themselves lucky they have a voice like Jade to mask that ...

Bah, I liked the Finnish tune better when it was called “This Is My Life.”

There's similarities, sure, but only in the chorus, which is more trance-y, and insisting the two are the same ignores the other 50% of the song. :: laugh ::

Based on studio versions I would have gone with Passionworks or Riikaa, but had you HEARD what Passionworks did to their song? It's pretty sad.
