[Eurovision] Meren
After being VERY disappointed by offerings so far from Malta and Spain, songs were released today online for Finland's Laulukilpailu, their national selection, here. Some fairly good songs here; I have a feeling Passionworks will be representing Finland with their song "Surrender" -- and don't get me wrong, it's a great song, but it will be the fourth rock song in a row for Suomi.
I'm currently hooked on "Meren" (if what little Finnish I know is right, it means something like "of the sea" in Finnish), sung by Riikka. There's just something very "other-worldly" about the song. Very traditional, very Finnish ... but very captivating, at least to me. I don't think it'll win the Laulukilpailu, but I've certainly been wrong before!!
In any case, good show Finland!
