The Infamous Tip Question
So nytemarewulf and I went out to eat with our friends Mark, reevis5, his hubby Brian, and slavetoreznor, and our waiter ... wow. Our waiter truthfully sucked. He disappeared for a good forty minutes -- it was a bit forgivable earlier as there were tons of people there, but as the night wore on we still got the SAME service. He was seen fucking around with friends when we needed service, would leave after we asked for one thing before we finished asking for what we wanted, and THEN we had to YELL for his attention at times, and then he was seen in the little drink alcove pointing us out to another waiter, who just kinda stared at us. Poor, poor service.
His total tip? 50¢.
I felt bad at this at first, that I gave him so little (it's customary to give 10%, yadda yadda). but he barely DID anything for us. At least I gave SOMETHING -- the others gave nothing at all.
So, let me ask -- is it ever okay to give nothing as a tip? Have you ever gotten to that point? What drove you to that point?
