Fandom Snowflake Challenge, Day 10

In your own space, post a rec for fannish and/or creative resources and spaces. Tell us where you go to dig up canon facts for your fandom, or where you get all the juicy details about your favorite ’ship. Where do you like to hang out and squee like a squeeing thing? Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

In this particular case, I can use last year’s post almost without change, since the resources I consult haven’t really changed since then.

First, I rely on su_herald a great deal to keep up with what’s going on. It has many times notified me of things I never would have known about otherwise (and has, not unimportant to me, kept a few people informed of some of my endeavors).

Additionally, I stay subscribed to btvs-award-info. There aren’t as many active Buffy fanworks award events as there used to be, but btvs-award-info allows me to keep track of many or most of the current ones. (I particularly like the Sunnydale Memorial Fanfiction Awards, though I have historically not done too well there.)

I rely so much on transcripts that I downloaded all of them more than a decade ago, but I still check at BuffyWorld now and then for quick details. (Among other things, I believe they post current su_herald listings.)

Sometimes you need to see the details of a particular episode, even if it’s only one scene or even a sequence of a few seconds. All the BtVS and A:tS episodes are currently available in Netflix livestream, but if they ever cease to be, I also use WatchSeries to hunt out old episodes of this and that as needed.

Also occasionally useful is Buffyverse DB, which I use primarily for the search function; BuffyWorld covers most of my other needs, but this one actually has multiple resources that could be used instead of BuffyWorld.

And, of course, I keep Merriam-Webster as a permanent bookmark. And Google Translate can come in handy sometimes, though I don’t think I’ve used it for fanfic more than a couple of times.

Anything else I find myself needing, I just search out as necessary.
