Nice one - reminds me I really need to update my Nina / Marvel crossover, it's been about two years...

I followed that one while you were updating it, but I’ve actually been more interested in “Give the Boys a Great Big Hand”, over at Twisting the Hellmouth. Any likelihood of new updates there?

I read this and enjoyed it before the reveal. Once that was done my response was, I should have known. :) I apologize for not commenting earlier, my life has been a bit crazy and I've been very erratic in giving everyone their due feedback.

I'd say the theme of this piece is control. Nina's control of the wolf certainly, but also the control she takes of her own destiny. Meanwhile, Xander is very noticably not the boy he once was. I very much enjoyed his class on not fighting vampires. Restraint has become his watchword, from the advice he gives his students to stepping back on the roof while the situation plays out to being cautious with Nina in the last scene.

A very interesting take on the characters and a very clever remix, pulling out a small portion of the original story and making a meal of it.

My assessment of my own story is very similar to yours, but not precisely synonymous. I see the theme as being about choices. At every phase of these events, the persons involved choose what comes next. Xander chooses to investigate this new person carefully, and then chooses to trust her. Nina chooses to risk death as the proper path between abdicating responsibility (do we really believe she couldn’t have simply abandoned Xander and fled the Tsjorkics, rather than confront them?) and unnecessarily becoming leader of a demon pack. Later, Nina chooses to chance linking her life and heart to Xander, and Xander chooses to allow the possibility ( ... )
