Come clean with us, you're really M. Night Shyamalan, aren't you?

Really, I already knew it wouldn't be anything I could expect, but this is like lightyears removed from anything I'd expected. Great.

You gratify me, especially in comparing me to someone whose work I particularly admire. Thanks.

You, sick, twisted, crazy, writing genius! I'm going to have Spike/Xander on the brain for months now! *grins*

Also, this was exceptionally well written. I love it. Now I'm off to read the final part.

I got so tired of S/X I started having sniper fantasies. Then this idea came into my head - I don’t know from where - and all I could think was, “Oh, my God! I’m writing a Spander!”

And did it without making myself throw up. I got a real charge out of doing this story, and I’ve been more than pleased with the response. Thanks for yours.

Meh. I was really, really enjoying that. Until Will turned out to be Spike. Then I had to stop. *shrug* Well, I enjoyed Will and Allie while they... existed? I guess? I really got into the characters, and it was heartbreaking that they weren't real. So, my compliments on your creating of original characters.

You’re not the only person to feel that way. The response to the story was hugely positive, but a significant minority felt as you do: that the bait-and-switch was a betrayal, and the loss (disappearing) of such vivid characters a disappointment.

I understand the sentiment - though, obviously, I don’t share it - and I appreciate your providing the feedback you did. I don’t quite understand getting to almost the end of a story, and then abandoning it because a particular turn of the plot proved disagreeable. In any event, thanks for the commentary.
