Kudos to Jesse..
I just wanted to give an update about the realm I created using the Forge of Dawn world as a backdrop. Hense the Kudos part. Well after altering and fiddling with the background story, The countries and people of the realm have become very real and almost 3D in the way they could walk off the paper and start living a real life. In a way I feel accomplished with what I have added and I did do some changes to the pantheon and added a few extra deities to fit better with all the crap D&D has as far as extra domains and such. I am done with the play tests and actually started a Game that wasn't a test just to see if it could run without conflict. The good news is.. Yes.. it does.. and OMG I want to live there...My players of the last playtest game went into The Great Marsh (Located in the Daraam) and I tell you.. they were scared out of their mind the first time they met a custom creature known as the "Draajin Shadowkin" This creature is made of part shadow so it is silent.. but it is a Huge sized creature and when fully in combat mode it can be a match of 4 15th level characters, it is CR 16 btw.. so it works. The bad thing is the testers characters at the time were 12th level and most of them got chomped they did kill it.. but not after losing 2 of them.
The current game consists of a party of 4 players with a unique array of abilities.. from a Doppleganger to a Janni.. lets just say it is a fun game.. all the quirks as how the other planes connect to the Prime material has all been worked out in a unique way.. Each deity has very different powers they bestow on their clerics.. however I have been enforcing devotion to the deity.. I hate the munchkin players who just take cleric class for cure spells. With the new classes I added to the new Player starter race.. the game plays like D&D as far as mechanics.. but it really is a whole nother animal.
Kinda a side note to Jesse if you are reading this..
My players just found out that Ehu the intermediate deity is actually the over-deity, They just about shit. It wasn't there chars that figured it out.. just the players themselves.
However they as players are trying to get clues for their characters so they can piece it together that in itself will be a long quest.. since that is Ehu's best kept secret.
They Also ran into a Mara for the first time a week ago.. and lets just say.. they ran like scared little bitches after 3 rounds of combat.
I hope to play with Both you and Peter soon.. and maybe spider if he can.. I just got married over the 4th of July and I start College in a couple weeks but maybe over a break..
I would love for you guys to give me some player feedback since the whole realm is based off your world.
Another side note to anyone:
My priests of Telar (Protector of the Dead) are kinda harsh. What I mean is.. they think of death way differently then a player does.. so I get few players who want to try it.
Although the priests of Telar are by far the most effective against any undead.
