Today was an interesting day.
Started out like a usual Tuesday: went to the gym, piano lesson, studio/safc, classes, lesson.
SpeakOut UNH went really well. I felt bad cause I had class right in the middle of it all. But I saw the last part of the speaking on THall lawn and marched down onto Maine St. the TNH crew was taking a bunch of pics, so hopefully we'll get in the news paper for Friday. I'm sure we will, this impacted a lot of people.
I'm glad so many people responded so positively and glad that Becca and Jess arranged all of this.
At the end I was getting food at the tables in the back. All of a sudden this guy who I only know by face named Ryan Walls comes up to me and asks if I'm Aaron Franklin. He's a grad student, 25, and works for UNH. Well, turns out that he was really good friends with my older sister Amy and lived on the same floor their freshman year. He's known Amy's best friend Sarah (who's our next door neighbor back home) since forever. Their parent's are friends from college.
So we got to talking, and when he was an undergrad he published a letter in the TNH that he wrote to his parents about him coming out. Aparently it was a big deal around campus. Oddly enough, it was a week after I had come out to my sisters. So when Amy read it, she went up to him telling him that she supported him and what-not, and said that I had just come out to her the other weekend. So she told him that I was coming to UNH and all that jazz.
Little did I know that for the past 3 years of randomly seeing him around campus that he knew my sister and knew how I came out!!!! It was really weird having someone I've never met tell me all this stuff. It kinda like going to psychic and have them tell you your life story. It was really cool! So I called Amy while he was standing outside the Strafford room and told her what just happened, and then I gave the phone to Ryan so they could chat.
I love little things like this. It makes me happy.
Night!
