To your comment about meeting "slightly to very effeminate gay dudes in the US" is that because being gay is different in the US than in France... and thus affect how gay people acted? Like I suppose because being gay in the US is kinda (relatively) controversial, people go 'all out' when expressing their gayness... I'm curious to know how accepted it is in France, and if that affects how people behave.

I'm still not sure why it was different in France, could have just been my particular experience. But I swear the guys are either bi and don't feel like they should just pretend to be straight, or they don't feel a need to be closeted because people are more tolerant of other people's private lives. Yeah they much prefer to have people guess their orientation than state it directly.

I had a experience back in the mid 90's when I lived in Switzerland...I had come home with a real sore heart...hang tuff...
