I have repeatedly asked people what they thought Jesus meant when said specifically that people who hurt little children should kill themselves, and that they will not be seeing him in heaven.
"Oh...well...he didn't REALLY mean that. See, if you ask for FORGIVENESS it's all ok..."
Yes, exactly. Also, to ask for forgiveness and mean it you have to admit that those priests ACTUALLY did something wrong, and it wasn't the fault of anyone except the pervert priest.
Yea, and I realized that my first comment implied otherwise. That was not my intent at all. I was clumsily trying to say that asking for forgiveness, especially for something like child rape, doesn't magically make it all better. The rapist still should face consequences on this life.
If he can make his soul clean before Jesus, that's between him and his God and his faith.
Yes, that is a subject that deserves miles of rants. I am not so sure I believe in the Christian God anymore but I definitely don't want the faith ruined for those that do or who have good memories of a childhood faith.
Yea. I see that. I wasn't ever Catholic, so I asked one of my friends on my Facebook to explain what was so special about staying. It was a really interesting conversation.
Yea, that's basically what we talked about. I know almost nothing about Catholicism. I grew up being asked if I was Catholic or Christian. Obviously, I know that is a stupid question but still have lots of holes I am just now filling in. Yay 8 years of Presbyterian school that thought church history began with Calvin!

Yea, I don't see that myself...
