icons and other babling

I have given up on finding an Aeris icon using the original graphic so I settled with this one. Speaking of FF7, I have gotten Yuffie! And am not looking forward to my favorite character dying. I also find Sephiroth highly entertaining and kind of want to pet him like I want to pet my cat ( Read more... )

Disney has produced some beautiful animated works. Too bad they're evil.

I'd hesitate to call them evil.

lol, well I guess it isn't completely fair to call them evil. They've done some good things like closing down a few of their resorts so some of their employees who lost their homes during the hurricane season of 2004 could stay there. It's just that a couple of my family memebers had dealings with Disney and they just had nothing but terrible experiences.

I think that's a widespread problem in all big companies. Which, yes, Disney does play a huge part in, owning so damn much. But, there is more than one perspective to look at any company. And Disney has a diverse history (much of it hidden) and while much of it is horrible and icky, there's also something good in it as well.

I just know what my family members have told me and they have done some pretty underhanded things to their employees and clients. However, you are right that these kind of thins happen in all large companies. I think what makes it worse with Disney because it's seen as this people friendly company. I have heard some other unpleasant things Walt Disney, but I hoping that they are false. And another thing is that Walt had this ideal image for Disney so some of those terrible rumors would seem out of character for him. *sigh* I just don't know.

Also, how is it that two days in a row I keep getting into these lengthy discussions? *laughs* You'll be sick of me soon enough!

Yeah - that and Wal-Mart the family friendly + the horrible things (like selling girl scout cookie knock offs wtf) they do points out major hypocrisy. I guess, though, when it comes to Disney, the fact is lots of their movies do make people happy and I think that means something. Not saying they can't or shouldn't improve because they should but there's something at that.

As for Walt Disney. He was very much a man of his times with regards to racism, from what I've picked up. ;_;

Oh god, don't get me started on Walmart. I worked there a couple of years during college and I know first hand that they don't treat their employees fairly.

My poor mom used to work there before she went into nursing. She was always loyal to them for about 7 years and by the end they started to screw her over big time. I felt so bad for her because she really did feel betrayed, but now she's much more appreciated at the nursing home she works at.

That's something I've also picked up on (which could be totally wrong) that people who work for smaller companies tend to be happier. I know when my mom worked in a nursing home as well as went to school, she was very happy there. She only left, I believe, because of the Drama That Is WR's Family.

I wouldn't be surprised if, for the most part, that was true. In large companies employees tend to become nameless faces wheras with smaller companies everyone usually knows each other's names. For me when I worked at Walmart I quickly realized that they didn't have my back and willing to put my head on a stick to cover their asses. My mom on the other hand originally didn't have really any bad experiences. I think she was one of the lucky few. It was as the years went on when she realized that she was getting screw over. My dad was the one who encouraged her to become a nurse so she could get away from retail in general.
