Riverside Holiday Walk

Glad we ventured out in the weather. Had a lot of fun.

The last 2 times we've gone to this event, our travels were somewhat limited. This time we had a map and and schedule of all the events so I picked the ones that I wanted to see.

There was a juggler dressed like a tin soldier outside of one store. Some places had raffles, others handed out free things like popcorn. We saw an ADORABLE bakery and a candy store (by that I mean small, decorated beautifully, unique things). The train set display was not very impressive. Just 6 H scale trains on seperate tracks. I thought it would be someone's lifelong hobby with full landscaping, handmade things and such.

Too many people to fight with for the carriage or trolley rides (and with so many sickly kids, I didn't want to risk it).

Met up with Rich and 3 gals from the symphony doing their annual string quartet of Christmas carols at an investment firm. They were also playing christmas movies with a projector on the window so you could see it from inside and outside the building. Very cool. Rich said they were going to Salerno's pizza afterward when they quit at 8:00 if we wanted to join them.

I still wanted to see the magician and yo-yo man at town hall. They were both good. Sometimes I miss my doves (just a little until I remember the mess). They had a few crafters there as well. The one gal made very nice jewelry and had a somewhat gothic looking display. Decided to ask her how much she pays for tables. Crafty Crafters was within the range so I told her a little about it and as soon as I said the word "pagan" I felt her demeanor change. Staying in practice seems to be a good thing. I kept her card, wished her a Merry Christmas and left it at that. Was bored with the yo-yo display after 15 mins so we left. Kids just don't do things like that that require practice anymore (but they'll spend hours on end on a video game figuring out a level). Sad.

Got to Salerno's around 9:00. They had already ordered, which was fine. They had plastic water glasses with grooves in the bottom so they were somewhat stackable. They made a sculpture of various fill levels and 3 tiers high out of them... with a single glass for a base! 'Twas a fun night.

Oh yes, on the way to Salerno's, Michael called and said that Carla had fallen in the parking lot at Pheasant Run and broken her wrist. She was at the hospital with Kate. Did he need a ride? No, he had her car.

The dir/mktg at PR, Rachel, said no other readers are allowed besides Michael & me. I told him that was going to happen. Good, now I don't have to confront Carla about it. He also said that a band of gypsies were going to try and set up and Rachel told them they couldn't. Michael said they looked like bad news / scam artists. He would know the type, he's married to a Romanian. Wish I could have been there to see them anyway.

foozy, events, warm fuzzy
