Vexen [3/4] tehseto May 26 2009, 04:16:34 UTC
History: Vexen was one of the original members of the Organization. When he was a human named Even, he, along with Xehanort and the other apprentices of Ansem the Wise, experimented on the heart's darkness. After realizing the dangers of what they were doing, their master urged them to stop, but the apprentices ignored him. Their dangerous research ultimately cost them their lives, as well as their own hearts. This resulted in the apprentices turning into Nobodies- those who are neither human nor Heartless, but are in-between. As a Nobody, he was still very interested in the mysteries of the heart, more specifically, memories. He continued his research long after the Organization was founded, and was considered the leading scientist in the Organization.

Eventually a "second base" by the name of Castle Oblivion was created for the now larger Organization XIII. The eleventh member, Marluxia, was placed in charge of the castle, much to the older members' disliking. Six members were stationed in this castle, including Vexen.

During his time in Castle Oblivion, he lived in the basement levels along with Zexion and Lexaeus. It did not take long for Vexen to find out that the Keyblade Master, Sora, had arrived within the castle. And it certainly did not take for long for Vexen to realize that Marluxia was planning on overthrowing the Organization by gaining control of Sora.

Not long after Sora appeared, Zexion noticed a scent familiar to The Superior located within the castle. It ended up being Riku, one of Sora's close friends. Vexen was fascinated by this discovery, and since he was uninterested in Sora, he decided to go after Riku instead.

After battling Riku and sampling the darkness within him, Vexen developed a replica of the boy. This replica was designed to completely embrace his dark side. He tested the replica out against Riku, and then, by offering a helping hand to Larxene and Axel, tested him against Sora as well. In preparation for this test, Vexen agreed to have the replica's memories (or lack thereof) be replaced with the real Riku's memories, much to the replica's dismay.

Unfortunately, once the replica received Riku's memories, he began to stray from Vexen's original plan, and rather than eliminating Sora, he developed protective feelings for Naminé. Marluxia, the proclaimed leader of Castle Oblivion, found out about this and confronted Vexen for it. Though knowing full well that Vexen probably wouldn't be able to pull it off, he ordered the scientist to eliminate Sora personally if he wanted to redeem himself after his failed experiment. Vexen, eager to prove his supposed superiority to Marluxia, agreed.

Confronting Sora for the first time, Vexen delved into the hero's memories during their fight. He came up with a card that would lead Sora to a place very familiar to the other side of his heart- Twilight Town. Marluxia, Larxene, and Axel caught wind of this, and Marluxia came to the conclusion that Vexen really was committed to eliminating Sora. All was going according to plan. Now Marluxia had the perfect reason to get rid of Vexen, so he branded Vexen a traitor and ordered Axel to assassinate him. Being the perfect time to prove his loyalty to Marluxia and Larxene, Axel agreed.

Vexen met Sora in front of Twilight Town's abandoned mansion for a final confrontation. The scientist made an attempt to break Sora from believing his false memories by bringing up ones from the other side of his heart. His Nobody's, Roxas’. However, Sora continued to deny the false memories that he was believing. Sora and Vexen had a small fight, and though weakened, Vexen gave another shot at getting Sora to stop thinking about Naminé. Just as he was about to reveal Roxas’ existence, as well as give away Marluxia's plan, Axel stepped in and gave him a devastating blow. Axel, who had no sympathy for Vexen from the beginning, ignored the higher-ranking member's plea for mercy, and finished him off quickly. That, unfortunately, was the end of The Chilly Academic.
