Loz 2/? -- son of beginning! qc_heartless May 26 2009, 02:30:04 UTC

Some time after Sephiroth’s defeat and before the events of Advent Children, Loz came into existence with his brothers. Apparently, being attempting to be a planet destroying bastard convinces the powers that be that your essence and genetic imprint on said planet should be split into three. Anyhow, Loz, Kadaj, and Yazoo existed, found leather jumpsuits, and set off to reunite their family by any means necessary, traveling far and wide to follow the call of their Mother and the rumors of where her remains could be in a world that only just barely comprehended the amount of tangles Jenova had woven into the threads leading to the future.

The three brothers eventually made their way to the crater where Sephiroth was defeated, trying to find a piece of their Mother… and finding the TURKs instead. After… interrogating the leader of the TURKs and the woman quite intensely, the brothers learned that President Shinra still lived and had an interest (and possibly a clue) as to the whereabouts of Mother’s remains. Loz traveled with his brothers toward the ruins of Midgar, where they encountered their “big brother”, Cloud. Loz, Yazoo, and Kadaj’s shadow creepers had a visit with big brother, attacking him while on their bikes and attempting to grill him for information, while Kadaj himself spoke with Rufus Shinra on the phone. Eventually, Loz and Yazoo relented their attack, rejoining Kadaj for a bit of time before they separated again, looking for Mother in their own ways--Kadaj went to wring the information out of Rufus, Yazoo went to kidnap some children with Geostigma, and Loz went to the Sector 5 Church.

At Sector 5, Loz ran into Tifa Lockhart and Marlene Wallace, and though the flowers growing in the place kicked up his allergies irritated him, he still found time and presence of mind to invite Tifa to “play” with him when she played dumb about Mother (as far as he cared.). They fought, with Tifa gaining a brief advantage until Yazoo called Loz and told him to haul ass (and stop crying), after which Loz exploited his speed and his Dual Hound to win, claiming a prize of a chest of materia (in the church, who the hell knows why) and Marlene, returning to the Forgotten Capital to set the children into Reunion mode, thus making them capable of sensing Jenova and substantially more useful in a fight.

Cloud, wanting his materia back (and possibly Marlene as well, since Barrett would most likely kick his lily-white ass when he found out) came to the Capital to confront the brothers, and Loz and Yazoo quickly reminded Cloud why lone wolves were, in practice, a bad idea, overwhelming him easily with teamwork, until Vincent Valentine showed up and sent the brothers heading to Edge with their Jenova trackers. Loz and Yazoo attempt to destroy a monument in order to reveal where they think Mother has been buried, but then Reno and Rude of the TURKs showed up and ran their mouths about Mother. The gauntlet was thrown down.

So, Loz and Yazoo kicked their asses, Loz taking a particular pleasure in beating the snot out of Rude until Rufus revealed his lap warmer Jenova’s head. Kadaj got the leaking box of remains and quickly sped out of the city, Loz quickly following him with Yazoo as Cloud attempted to catch up to them. In the tunnels and on the highways leading to Midgar, Loz worked with Yazoo to delay Cloud, trying to keep him from reaching Kadaj, and manage to hold him off for a little while, until Cloud gained a lead on the pair of them. Loz drove straight into a trap set by the TURKs and was severely injured by the bombs they used.

Loz, along with Yazoo, presumed dead and possibly buried in the rubble caused by the explosions, manage to make one last stand--even as Aerith’s healing rain was causing them to dissolve, the two of them mounted one last attack, using the dozens of materia equipped in their bodies to try and take Cloud down with them, destroying themselves in the process.

It’s from the point between Loz’s last attack and his death that I’m bringing him in, he’s barely alive and in need of a good Cure unless the gods’ll patch his ass up in between borrowing him from home and tossing him down to go get chewed on by the creepy crawlies.

Sample log entry: He was dreaming.

Loz wasn’t human (not human in the least, more of a memory given flesh and a steel will to survive, to find, to complete) so he didn’t require all of the amenities people did to keep functioning. Food was whatever was quick and easy to consume, there was no greater hobby than pursuing rumors of Mother like a good son (the best son) should, and sleep was a necessity that had been whittled down to a minimal sort of art that Loz and his brothers had learned to trade off on, one pair of mako bright eyes always watching over the other two as they rested.

Dreams weren’t frequent occurrences for the eldest brother--he wasn’t wired to be particularly concerned with all of the secrets his mind contained, that inner contemplation and concern being much more in Yazoo’s realm, or perhaps Kadaj’s. Dreams were inspiration and idea, neither of which Loz needed in any vast amount. His inspiration to find Mother never waned, and the ideas were things his brothers dealt with--he just charged in and kept their precious minds safe as he changed threats into pulpy smears on the trees and ground with a well aimed barrage of fists and a sudden jolt of electricity to the face. Idle thought wasn’t his forte--but if all of his dreams could be like this one, then Loz might have tried to stimulate his mind outside of battle with a greater furor.

Mother was beautiful; even though she lacked a particular shape or face, she was close, she was safe, she was Mother. She cradled him, whispered in his ear (‘good child, sweet child, you‘ve done well‘), she was everything he had ever thought of her but with the added wonder that she was here, with him--with them; Yazoo and Kadaj were close to her as well. They were faint presences, thrumming through his veins like the other pieces to the puzzle they were, but nothing quite matched the feeling of Mother so close, so real that he could…

“Don’t cry, Loz.” A foot nudged him sharply in the ribs, drawing him from the dream and back to the cold of the Forgotten Capital, long hair brushing his neck as Yazoo peered down at him with narrowed eyes and a sharp smile. Loz scowled, turning his face away as he rolled over, scrubbing his eyes with his arm, fixing his brother with a petulant glower, shoving him a little as he got to his feet.

“I’m not crying, you jerk,” he growled, moving out of the way as Yazoo shrugged, laying down on his spot beside the fire, turning his back as Loz went to their lookout spot by the window, folding his arms over his chest as he settled in for his turn to watch. Yazoo was a jerk, but… they would find Mother soon, and then it wouldn’t matter how many times he kicked Loz away--the feeling would be real, and he couldn’t take it when it was.

Soon. They’d find her soon.

Sample journal entry: (a voice post, since Loz thinks typing takes too long and is hard on the little buttons. Fucking little buttons. Smalltext is grumbling.)

[lots of beeping and clicking, and increasingly frustrated cursing] Where the hell are their numbers? I didn’t lose the stupid thing--their numbers should be right here. [beep beep stop pushing buttons Loz. A growl.]

This isn’t my phone. Who stole it from me?! I’ll beat their face in! Stupid thieves… [a few more beeps] Grr… an’ now they’re gonna be mad at me for getting the stupid thing stolen… jerk. [a growl] I’ll break that thief’s neck when I find’m.

[muffled sounds of movement and grumbling continue until the recording times out.]
