I've been trying to come up with words to describe how happy I am here at Honeyrock. It's not easy. I've been here for almost exactly a month, and in that time I have met a lot of people, a few of which I think I'll keep in contact with for a long, long time. I've learned so many things, realized so many things about myself, become more confident in myself, my future. And it's not because of Honeyrock itself. It's just a place that I happen to go to and meet the people that have influenced me. I'm so glad I got to come here.
My job is pretty great--yeah, I scrub pans and plates and usually have several different condiments on me at any given time. My back hurts, my feet hurt, etc. But I get to work with fun people--Anna and Rachel!--and be able to talk to the people I'm serving without being looked down on (like what happened occasionally at Kroger). I really like it though. Yeah I don't get paid that much, and room and board eats up half of my weekly check, but I get to do all of the camp activities during my time off. I learned to water-ski, and I can sort of slolam now! That means skiing with one ski. And it's so pretty up here. I love it.
I love being around people all the time. Sometimes it can be annoying, like there's so many people it's hard to get privacy at times, but I think it's good for me to be around people regularly. It helps my speech problems, but it also just makes me happy. And angry. and... yeah. I like feeling a range of emotions on a regular basis.
The only bad thing about Honeyrock is it's coffee. It's seriously some of the worst stuff I've ever tasted. But I have to keep drinking it. We're in Three Lakes right now doing laundry, and there's a coffee shop here called Deja Brew, and the first mocha I had here tasted like heaven. Mmmmm... I'm coming here a lot.
oh yeah, HI Chelsea! =)
