❦ In depth:
Personality: Dug is the definition of both naïve and innocent. (Also “adorable,” but that’s not really a personality trait.) His world view is slightly skewed toward the hopelessly optimistic, though some people (and dogs) think Dug is more of a clueless derpface than anything. He’s not. He’s actually pretty intuitive and skilled-he is a Golden Retriever, after all-and he takes direction very well; he just doesn’t always carry out that direction in an orthodox way. He has his own methods for everything, and they’re usually pretty ridiculous to everyone except Dug.
One of the other dogs must have taught him the “I’m rubber, you’re glue” saying when he was just a puppy, because he’s very good at letting ridicule and mockery bounce off of his impressively large body. He believes that everyone he meets is a friend with good intentions until proven otherwise, and when they are, he’s quick to turn on them. Dug doesn’t like betrayal.
Above all, Dug is affectionate and loyal. Known for his licking, nuzzling, tackling, and general affection, he goes to great lengths to show the people he loves that he does, indeed, love them. He’s quick to love, too, especially when people are nice to him.
His likes include fetch, long walks on the beach, and tummyrubs. His dislikes include the cone of shame, mailmen, and fleas.
Canon Background: Dug, one of explorer Charles F. Muntz’s talking canine companions, was born and raised in South America by Mr. Muntz and his faithful, intelligent pack. Dug was originally trained to track an elusive, exotic bird for Muntz, but it quickly became clear that Dug would never do a very good job-he isn’t the brightest bulb in the box, as they say, and appears to be stuck in puppyhood even though he’s a fully-grown Golden Retriever. Dug quickly became the outcast and the butt of the other dogs’ jokes, but that didn’t get in the way of Dug’s image of himself: a great tracker who would find the bird before the others.
Except then he met a tiny mailman.AU Background: Canon remains the same, except someone, somewhere, thought Dug would be perfect to bring to the Academy in this time of crisis to teach the students how to track, even though his tiny mailman no longer attends the school.
Appearance: Golden Retriever
Classes: Tracking 101

Greatest Fear: The one thing that really gets Dug down is his occasional failure to prove himself. He’s very good at ignoring what the other dogs said to him and how they treated him, but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t paying attention. He sometimes wonders, even now that they’ve stopped being jerks, whether they really meant it. That would mean it was true.
How long have they been at the school(remember this school is from kindergarten on): Dug started teaching in February
