Take the time to read this. Srsly.

Hope this entry finds everyone is good health and spirits at the beginning of this year, 2006. Just thought I'd stand up on my Lever 2000 soap box for a second...

Definitely. Just like there are dumb drivers, there are also dumbass bikers. Doing stunts on public roads is probably at the top of that list. I remember seeing a group doing wheelies across GWB. Looked cool, but one F' up and its a plummet of doom off the bridge that awaits. Being a danger to others is what takes the cake tho.

But the whole lane-splitting thing (and I know its illegal in NJ), if done right (not speeding in between cars, but moving at a moderate pace) is actually beneficial to the biker and overall traffic. For one, the dude on the bike isn't sitting there worrying about being rear-ended, because it does happen in stop-go situations. Doesn't take a hard hit from a car to F' up a bike and its rider.
Also, overall traffic is lessened because you don't have a bike taking up more space in the traffic pattern.

Real lane-splitting does not mean speeding between cars and dodging in and out of the lines... Its why its not illegal in Cali. People understand that it helps to relieve traffic. Just gotta be done right.

And dude, I saw a moron on her cell phone, eating, with a newspaper spread across the steering wheel while on the road once, driving a van. I almost shit myself cuz I was so p1ssed.
