He was so young. and so mislead. everything life had shown him so far was mostly how to not do things. so he lived a life of doing what he wanted. he decided to go on a road trip with his friends.
he made it to a city far away from his home and they all sat down at a bar. randomly in the middle of the night he wakes up in a base ball field. he must've had too much to drink. he stands up and see's a women crying alone across the field. so he walks up to her and asks her whats wrong. she tells him shes having trouble affording the rent and she's going to lose her apartment soon. he tells her that he can try to help her out a little bit and gives her some money. she gives him her phone number. he makes it to a phone booth and calls his friends house who was driving. no answer. he calls his other friend who had stayed home. he tells him that his friend had a warrant out for his arrest and got arrested. and he tells him that the other two friends called and couldnt find you so got rides home. he asks if he can get a ride from his friend, but he said he had to work today. so he hangs up and calls the girl, tells her his story and asks if he can live there for a few months and help pay for the rent and do repairs for the land lord. she says he can stay and picks him up. we'll he got involved with her and stayed with her for months. her house was in front of a major canal. in the winter it would freeze over and the ice breaker boats would push the ice up to shore making small mountain looking slabs of ice that over lappeed. months went by and eventually he made some money and said he needed to go home. she cried and wanted him to stay. but thats the way he was. never stayed with one woman for long. and he told her hed still keep in touch. he talked to her once a week and one day she told him she was pregnant. he was like.. is it mine? she said yes, but you cant see the baby when its born. and he was like..well why not? she said it was because her current boyfriend, whom she had gone out with before, thought it was his.
he was so upset, and didnt know what to do. he still talked to her every week and one day she said he could visit, becuase her boyfriend left her. he moved down there again, this time in his own apartment. and would visit his daughter every so often. and eventually she had asked him if hed move back in. the same day she called him at work and asked if he could leave work and tell the baby sitter to go home. he said sure. when he got to the house he saw the front door open and was mad because he was going to be paying for that heat when the bill came in since he was going to move in. he walked into the house and everything was quiet. he called for the baby sitter and no answer. he looked out back and saw them all standing at the ice and screaming. he ran out and saw his daughters little friend floating there and he jumped over the ice slabs and into the freezing cold water. he pulled her out and ran inside and wrapped her in blankets then called 911. the baby sitter was still screaming hysterically and a little boy from the neighborhodd said that his daughter was still in there. he ran so fast. and looked. couldnt find her. dived under.. couldnt see because his eyes burned from the cold. he pounded on the ice over and over until his wrists had broken and he could pound no more. then he blacked out.

two figures sat holding each other crying at a young girls funeral. the mother and father of the young girl. when the womens mother stood up to pay her respects she started to cry loudly and blame everything on the man for not bieng there. and for not being married when they had concieved.
the man left the funeral, went home and cried for days. and decided hed have to leave. he told the women he was so sorry, and that he wished it had never happened. and left, never to talk to her again.
