Today was my mom's birthday. I don't think about this every day, but I'm really grateful that my mom and I get on so well. A lot of girls my age hate both of their parents and can't wait to get out of the house. Most of the time, I think my parents want to get me out of the house more than I want to leave, which is a good thing.
Anyway, I got her an optical mouse for her laptop (a sleek Dell which I can't help but admire even though I know how fast Dell computers break) and a flash drive, which she's hooked to her school key chain. She seemed to appreciate them a lot, but then she also seemed to appreciate the cracked ceramic tiles with crude pictures of cats carved on that I made for her in elementary school. I just hope they come to some use in her life.
I love my mom. And I know she's probably reading this, and no, there's nothing I want, I just love you. Every day after school we sit down and drink black tea together. Aaron hates black tea for its bitterness, and I think maybe I would too, if I didn't have mom. The fact that I sit down with mom routinely and drink tea accounts for half its sweetness. Easily.

PS: We went out to Barone's for dinner and I ate duck.
