For you mac users out there: better to leave the computer in Sleep mode when leaving it overnight, or to shut it down?

shut it down...
i find that the os system degrades when left on too long..
and then i awaken to crashes and conflicts the next day...

but i thought Macs didn't crash? that's what their ads say anyway. (hehe!)
