The most underrated part about the entire Vikings franchise is the beacon of impactful performances, which has been passed successfully in the series spin-off. Especially, Sam Corlett, (snip), along with Frida Gustavsson and Bradley James.

But the one thing that stands out in this show head and shoulders above the rest is the acting. All the actors bring their best to the table and try their best to imitate Scandinavian accents. But it's Frida Gustavsson and Bradley James as Freydis and Lord Harekr who steal the season. Their individual storylines are intriguing and also they are surrounded by a great supporting cast.

Some new cast members have been confirmed for the second season of Vikings: Valhalla. The British actor Bradley James (39) is known, among other things, from the BBC series "Merlin - The New Adventures" (2008-2012). In the "Valhalla" sequel he embodies the new character Harekr, a pagan extremist among the Vikings who rules over the settlement of Jómsborg.

One of the new characters in Vikings: Valhalla that will likely get the most attention is that of Lord Harekr. Bradley James plays Harekr in season 2, and he’s a wonderful addition to both the cast and the world of Valhalla. Get to know both the character and the actor below!
James, an English actor estimated to be about 38 or 39 years old, has been best known for his work in the BBC and NBC series Merlin. He had a starring role in all five seasons of the fantasy-adventure series as Arthur Pendragon. The actor has also appeared in such titles as Underworld: Blood Wars, iZombie, Bounty Hunters, The Liberator, and Medici: Masters of Florence.
There’s no doubt that Bradley James is an excellent addition to the cast of Vikings: Valhalla, (snip) Depending on the events of the new episodes (no spoilers here!), we hope to see more of Harekr in season 3.

Harekr is the ruler of Jómsborg, an ultra-Pagan Viking settlement that adheres to strict traditions. A new character for season 2, Harekr is played by Bradley James, who you may recognize from Merlin, Damien, and iZombie.

Who is Lord Harekr in Vikings Valhalla season 2?
Lord Harekr was introduced as the leader of Jomsborg in Vikings: Valhalla season 2.
[Spoiler (click to open)]Freydis decided to leave her brother and partner and follow the mysterious Jorundr (Stanislav Callas) to Jomsborg.Here, she was introduced to Lord Harekr and his wife Gudrid. The pair made her feel extremely welcome and treated her like a goddess as she was carrying a sacred child. The king was sent off on a raid but upon his return, he was not happy with what had been going on in his absence.
He was furious with Freydis and Jorundr for celebrating with the refugees, whom he had only been using for work.
In a fit of rage, he killed the refugees and vowed to take Freydis's life next. After the birth of her son, he locked Freydis away and stole the baby as his own, believing Freydis was no longer of use. (snip)
However, as she was still suffering from the traumatic birth, Harekr had the upper hand. Just when it seemed Freydis would lose the fight, Gudrid threw a rock at her husband, demanding he stopped. The rest of the onlookers proceeded to pick up rocks and hurl them at the cowering king. It was Gudrid's final blow to the head that seemingly finished the king off as he lay lifeless in a pool of blood. His lies and selfishness cost him his life as his own family turned against him.

A conflict develops between her and Lord Harekr (Bradley James), the settlement’s leader. Harekr [Spoiler (click to open)]massacres the refugees and takes Freydis’ newborn son, whom she names after his father, from her. The other residents of Jomsborg later stone Harekr to death when he tries to kill a weakened Freydis after defeating her in a fight.
Who plays King Harekr in Vikings Valhalla?
The character is played by Bradley James, a 39-year-old English actor. He is perhaps best known for playing Arthur Pendragon in the BBC series Merlin. Viewers may also recognise him from Damien, Medici: The Magnificent and The Liberator.
He was born in Devon, England, but moved with his family to Florida when he was nine years old. He attended middle school in America before returning to England for high school. Between 2004 and 2007 he attended Drama Centre London, where he earned his degree in acting.
The star is on Instagram and he shared a short clip from his latest venture, unveiling "Harekr, leader of the Jomsvikings".
He also recently celebrated 10 years since Merlin came to an end on the BBC. Sharing a picture of the cast and crew, he said: "10 years to the day, the last episode of Merlin aired on the BBC. "The first thing the cast talk about when we meet up is memories of the crew. They really were magical. Miss them."
