[Hymn #14]

Apr 10, 2009 22:51

I was browsing through some of the reference books in the library and came across a mention of some holiday that is presumably celebrated around this time.

Does anyone have this "Easter" where they come from?
If so, what's it like? I'm curious.

All you really need to know about it is that you get lots of chocolate!

Lots of chocolate, huh? That sounds pretty nice.

It is!

There's supposed to be some religious thing behind it involving Jesus, but I don't really know much about that bit. It doesn't matter too much, since it's pretty much celebrated for the chocolate now anyway.

Hm. In a way that seems kind of disappointing.

I mean, chocolate's a fine reason to celebrate, but it's a shame that the actual religious significance behind Easter (at least I'm assuming it started out that way?) is being forgotten.

Mr. Shinigami said it might have something to do with a sacrifice to save the world and a rabbit?

I dunno, maybe it isn't. From what I can remember, my family isn't all that religious anyway I don't think you can be when you try to hunt ghosts as a job, but someone probably celebrates it for...whatever happened a zillion years ago.

Actually, yeah, that sounds about right! How else can you explain the Easter bunny?

((OOC: disregard my fail, I blame it on not having LJLogin here, damn my dependency on it. DX))

It's all right. I was just curious anyhow, and you've been most helpful.
