Alistair had come to grips, as much as one could, with the fact he was a female for now. He realized it wasn't as bad as it could be in the grand scheme of things, but it still was disconcerting to say the least.
He did his best to keep as normal a schedule as he could, though. A gender change didn't mean he was free from his few duties on the island, after all. He'd surprisingly seen very little of the people he knew - perhaps they were changed as well? Maker, he wouldn't even be able to tell if that was the case - and he'd be lying if he said he wasn't a little grateful for that. Zelda seemed so calm about it, but he was sure he was going to be dealing with a couple of chuckles by the end of this little island trick.
Once he had some time to himself, he decided to stay near his hut instead of go to the Compound, which was what he often did when he had little to do. Duncan, despite his owner's strange change, remained by his side as always. He also continued to not get the hint he wasn't in the mood to do much, as he came to Alistair a little after he sat in the sand, a stick in his mouth. Dropping it by his side, the large hound barked, arching his back low in a sign of wanting to play.
He considered shooing him away, but eventually gave in and picked it up to throw it. Duncan ran after it with impressive speed, and he knew he'd be doing this for a while now that he's thrown it once.
At least it was a distraction. He needed it right then, if he was being honest.
