I’ve grown weary of trying to figure out what I should do with my life. I’m not qualified for anything other than maybe being famous or baking cookies or writing foolish stories. I thought I might let you guys decide since you know at least some information about me. It’ll be like choose-your-own-adventure only with real people and if you choose wrong, you can’t flip back and choose again.
Grad School: Where should I go? I don’t want to move. I like it here so I don’t think I should leave. If I did move, would anyone go with me? Where would we go? How would I contact my Mom? Could we take her with us? What about my Dad? He’s crazy, I’m going to have to talk to him daily.
How does BU sound? Should I stay at Emerson? Should I shuffle of to Martha’s Vineyard and write for Northeastern? (Yes, their writing program is based on that crazy island off the coast of MA)
All I want to do is write. Does this sound realistic? Would you buy my book? Would you get your mom and all your cousins to buy it to? Should I just quit everything and sit at my computer until I’ve written a novel or two? What are the odds I have the attention span to write a novel?
Should I just give the public what they want and become a rock star? Does it matter that I can’t play any instruments? Would you be in my band? What would we call ourselves? Could we wear weird glittery outfits?
If I stay in town, where should I live? Who should I live with? Should I buy thrift store furniture or real furniture? Would you come to my new apartment for a party? What if it was a costume party? What would I cook if I lived alone? Would I end up eating hot dogs every night?
Should I quit my job? Bookselling isn’t really doing it for me anymore. If I quit my job where would I work? Am I qualified for anything? How bad of a waitress would I make? Would I be better off shooting myself in the foot? What about a job in a candy factory? It worked for Katherine Dunn.
What about an internship? Should I work for Radio Disney? Should I intern at a magazine office? Should I lend my skills to Barefoot books? Should I stop asking you questions?
That’s all for now. Feel free to write me an essay back. I have no problems looking into alternative lifestyles like crime or street performing.
Rock out!!
