Schadenfreude check

First off, Lexie is the best for making the killer avatars. What a wonderful surprise to see coming home tonight!

Secondly, an ethical question: How much schadenfreude is too much? The Boston R-- Okay, that team from New England -- just lost game 4 of the American League Championship Series by the final score of 13-4. To the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. The "we've never had a season above .450" Tampa Bay Devil Rays. They might very well lose the series to that perennial cellar-dweller, seeing as they're now down 3 games to 1.

That New England team is, for those who aren't familiar with such things, the eternal hated rival of my New York Yankees. For decades (nearly nine of them, in fact), my Yankees were the much better team in the clutch, often at the expense of the Re- Re-, oh, you know who. Anyway, then in October of 2004 we lay an ass-whooping on them to the tune of 19-8 to take a 3-0 series lead in the best of seven ALCS. The rest is history... they go on to win the next four games straight, and take that momentum to their first World Series victory in 86 years, breaking the Curse of the Bambino. I had a bit of schadenfreude that night, too, and I can't help but think back to that night in '04, when I saw them go down by 11, and still score twice in the seventh inning. They even had fight in them in the bottom of the ninth. I saw the same thing in them tonight, and it's a scary thought.

But right now, they just got their asses handed to them by freaking Tampa Bay. And if my Yankees can't lay the beat-down on Boston, having a loser expansion team like that do it is the next best thing.

alcs, tampa bay rays, new york yankees, lexie's the best.
