Computer geek

alright so tuesday night I go to dinner and come back and low and behold my computer decides to not be working. I try to bring it out of stand-by and although the backlight comes on, nothing else progresses. sweet. I restart it and it works just fine, until it gets to the Windows XP loading screen, you know, where the bottom thing scrolls, and then it's unable to progress into the login screen for the desktop. The monitor claims that theres no signal input from the CPU and therefore it goes into standby. uber sweet. begin: one hour of frantic restarts, manual power on/off, unplugs, and many profanities. needless to say it doesnt work.

today I give up on hearing from the home QHT (computer people)and go over to the geek squad at Best Buy, after at one point having seven people around my computer trying to make it work on their monitor, they listen to me and reliaze I have a DVI video card. and oh look everything works for them and not for me. so I bring it home and the comp still isnt working. fuck. then as to procrastinate from actually studying physics (test on Wed :-( )I decide to read my manual on my monitor, and *light bulb* it hits me. I have a multi-function LCD monitor! duh! I flip my monitor from Analog video through the channels eventually into DVI (digital video input) and it works! woo hoo! yay for having a computer again

Lessons Learned:
1) I have no one to turn to when it come to needing computer help
2) no one knows what anything above actually means besides myself
3) due to number 2 I am a complete and utter geek.

YAY!
