I’m glad I got all of my Christmas shopping done early this year because I have been (and will continue to be) so busy!
Seth’s party on Saturday night was fun. I didn’t know a whole lot of people there, so I felt slightly out of place. Chris (my brother) was there though, so I spent a good amount of time chatting with him… it’s been a while since we last saw each other. I was also reintroduced to a lot of people that were in Chris and Seth’s social circle “back in the day”, so I knew them, but haven’t seen them in about -oh- 15 years or so. That was kind of strange. But I did have a good time.
Sunday I watched Celeste and Mimi for most of the afternoon and then went to my mom’s in the evening. Same old, same old.
Monday I got a call from a friend of Michelle’s who was looking for someone to watch her kids at the last minute. I told her I was available and would come over. Not half an hour later she called me back asking if I would be willing to spend the night, which was kind of strange considering I’d only met her once (while working at the studio) and probably hadn’t talked to her for more than about five minutes. But work’s work and I figured it couldn’t be too bad, so I said that I’d be willing stay over. It was a lot of work, but everything went well. There were four kids: Liam (~12), T.K. (~11), Avery (7) and Drew (almost 4). By the time I got there, fed them all dinner, gave Drew a bath and got the kids all into bed it was about 9:30pm. I spent a few hours tidying the house and just relaxing, so I didn’t get to bed until about 12:30am. Woke up a little before 6:00am to get TK to his basketball practice, woke up the others to get them to school. Had a bit of a break between about 9:30am and 12:00pm during which I showered, did laundry, cleaned Avery’s room. Then Drew came home and I fed him lunch before his play date came over. The two of them played for the afternoon. Then Liam came home. (The other two had after school stuff going on.) By 5:00pm their parents were home and I left. I don’t know how anyone could parent four children and have another full time job! It was definitely WORK. But the kids were all really well-behaved and I had a good time. Hopefully they’ll call me again.
Today I went to my Nana’s and helped her make shortbread cookies. She makes them every year, but it’s too much for her to do on her own… especially since she had surgery last week and isn’t quite at her best. We spent about three and a half hours making over 300 cookies… I’m sure if I hadn’t been there it would have taken her at least eight hours, so I’m glad I went to help. They turned out well, but I think we were both exhausted by the time we were done. I came home to give her a chance to take a nap and have a quiet supper, but I’m going to go back over later to watch Gilmore Girls with her, Paul and Matthew.
-Tomorrow I will make cookies at my mom’s and then watch Celeste and Mimi in the evening.
-Friday night I’m going out for dinner with Carol and Scott (who’s wedding I went to a few weeks ago) and also maybe Ben and Samuel.
-Saturday is the Irish Coral Society’s Christmas concert, which I told Karen I would help at. She wants me to run the refreshments/bake sale table. (I helped at their concert a few months ago and told her I would do it again -which I now slightly regret, since my friend is having a Christmas party that night and I won’t be able to go, but I wouldn’t feel right going back on my word to Karen.) I’ll probably spend Saturday day at my mom’s either doing more baking or finishing up what I start tomorrow.)
-Sunday evening I’m going to go out with Shana for dinner. She wrote me a super-nice email asking if I’d like to go out -of course I said yes!
-Monday I have no plans (so far).
-Tuesday I’m going to meet up with Heather, probably to watch a DVD at her place.
-Wednesday is the same as Monday.
-Thursday is Christmas at my dad’s
-Friday is Christmas at my mom’s
-Saturday I leave for PA, where I will stay until January 3rd.
Busy! Busy!! Busy!!!
Anyway, I should probably get going since Nana will be expecting me back there in about half and hour.
Hope everyone is enjoying getting ready for the holidays. :)
