Wilson had a morning class and then office hours that kept him up at the school till after 1 in the afternoon, so after Aziraphale sat for his own office hours, he got a jump start on the prep work for dinner.

The menu for the evening was five mushroom lasagna, a pear and apple salad, fresh baked rosemary-olive oil bread, and a dessert of Read more... )

Wilson got home and after a brief check in with the angel for a cheek kiss and an ooohhhing and aaaahhhing at the mushrooms and other goodies, then he slipped in to the bedroom to change out of his school coat and tie formal duds.

Coming back into the kitchen in jeans and a button down shirt, one of Aziraphale's, Wilson moved to the counter to start working on the bread.

"Everything looks perfect, lover mine. Did you have an problem getting what was on the list?"

Aziraphale gave the young doctor an 'is that a stupid question or what?' look, but couldn't hold back a smile at his lover's choice of attire.

"Not a bit of trouble, James love. I just hope I've got everything set the way you want it. The fruit salad is all made, by the way, just chilling in the icebox."

As Wilson took over the main part of the cooking, the angel stepped aside and got to work on the caramel topping for his dessert.

Wilson, who had been sort of preoccupied with the food stuffs, finally happened to turn around and get a good look at his Jamies-died lover.

....

A bowl broke as it hit the floor.

"What the fuck?"

Aziraphale eeped when the bowl shattered, and gave a quick wave of his hand to un-shatter it and put it back on the counter.

"Good heavens, love! What's wrong?"

Then he remembered his encounter in the dorms, and looked sheepish. "Er...I was mugged?"

Okay, this was a situation worthy of hand flails.

"Mugging usually involves black eyes, split lips and loss of money. This..." Wavie wavie went the hands.

"Dear Lord, is that hairgel???"

"Er...I...it might be?"

Aziraphale backed away slightly, so that Wilson wouldn't smell the distinctive odor of Aqua Velva. It hadn't actually yet occurred to him because it's more fun that way that he could just miracle it all away.

"I was walking through the school, and I think I took a wrong turn and wound up in the dorms, and then there were...a great many students, except I do believe they were all the same student. And...they did this. I think they meant it...to be nice?"

Wilson peered at Phale over his fingers.

"Hair Gel." He said simply and as crafty as the angel was trying to be...

"And what is that smell?"

"I'm not entirely certain," he replied, backing away a little further. "Some sort of cologne, I think. Rather powerful scent, isn't it? They kept saying something about me being 'too British'. And...smelling British. I'm not certain I really understood that, though. I mean...you don't smell American. You just smell...nice. Like James."

Ahyep. Dithering.

Aly tapped on the door to their apartment exactly at the arranged time. She'd changed into clothes from her world - a sarong wrapped as a skirt and a closely wrapped jacket - and carried a small present for the two gentlemen.

[OOC: Now from the right acct! *facepalm* And I'm unexpectedly afk for the next bit of time. I should be able to tag in a bit, but I'll be back at full speed later in the afternoon. SP is indeed love]

Since Wilson was up to his elbows (not literally) in finishing up the lasagna and bread, Aziraphale answered the door. He smiled happily at seeing Aly there.

"Good evening, my dear, do come in. We're just finishing up in the kitchen, but if you'd like to join us and have a glass of wine while you wait, you've quite welcome to."

[ooc: Aww, you fixed it! And I was just about to tag with a comment from Phale about the young man in the sarong. *g*]

She smiled back and handed him a box (in which he would find a small gold-worked crow statue).

"Thank you very much. I'd loved to," she replied, entering the apartment.

Aziraphale opened the box and smiled at the contents, although he decided he would have to work out a good way to ask about the significance of the crow. Leading Aly into the kitchen, he set the box on the counter so Wilson could see it and went to fetch a wineglass for their guest.

"James love, Miss Alianne is here."

Setting a glass of white wine in front of Aly, he then leaned against the counter and smiled. "You've been well, I hope?"

Wilson looked up as Phale brought Aly through to the kitchen and he smiled warmly.

"Good evening, Aly." He exclaimed as he bent down to put the lasagnas into the over, releasing the rich scent of baking bread as he did so.

"Dr. Wilson," Aly greeted him with a smile. "Whatever it is you're cooking, it smells lovely."

She smiled at Aziraphale. "Very well, thank you. And yourself? And please, do call me Aly."

"Of course, my dear, if you like."

He nodded, having gotten over the bit of flailing he and Wilson had done at each other earlier over Aziraphale's appearance, and now feeling perfectly at ease with it. "Yes, quite well. It's been really a very good week. None of my students fought during class, James and I went to a movie, and now we're having dinner with our friends."
