Bingo: Present and Snuggle // How to get Taiki to do what you want even if he says 'no'

Jan 06, 2011 01:18

He’s been staring at the reflection in the dark window for nearly 20 minutes now. In search of a little peace, Taiki had wandered around the near-silent hospital for the better part of an hour; the constant bedside hierarchy power-plays and never ending soul chatter was smothering him. The last trip in the elevator and he’d closed his eyes, randomly selecting a button. The doors opened to the eighth floor and he immediately saw the wall of window.

His aura was dismal. Pulling the white hospital blanket tighter around him, Taiki wishes it could cover his unsightly -and unhealthy- colors. All the evidence of his neglect spread out right before him and he can’t look away. So ugly but he won’t stop. He doesn’t want to eat, he doesn’t want to sleep, and he doesn’t want to be here or leave.

Behind him the elevator pings. A rumble through the building and the car stops on his floor -- the familiar yellow is visible before the person when the doors finally slide open. There’s a moment of searching before Shuichi spots Taiki, calling his name and loping up behind him.

“Yamada-san told me to take you home t’get some sleep. She said she’ll take th’ shift tonight -apparently her husband’s watching th' baby.” The blond crosses into the waiting room, stopping short a few paces from Taiki’s shoulder. While Shuichi continues on, black eyes slide between their reflections, comparing the aura colors. Even when Shuichi is upset his are better. “You can take a shower or somethin’ and I’ll getcha food. You’ll be able t’grab a whole night’s rest finally.”

Still no answer.

When Shuichi finally comes around in front of him, Taiki drops his gaze. “C’mon, let’s getcha home. Nakao would be upset if he saw this. You’d probably get a lecture.” Very carefully, Shuichi tries to turn Taiki and guide him back towards the elevators - but the psychic stubbornly twists away.

“I am staying.” Quiet but adamant. He doesn’t want to be here but he’s not going to leave -beyond a brief daily shower and change of clothes- until Senri does. A deep sigh from Shuichi and he turns his attention to the cover still draped around Taiki’s shoulders.

“I told her that.” Moving carefully, Shuichi begins rewrapping the thin white blanket around his small counterpart. “Her reply just confirms the fact that she and Nakao are related.”

When Taiki is snugly wrapped Shuichi stands back to admire his handiwork. “Okay, now keep that tight.” Without thinking, Taiki obeys. From within the blanket he pinches the hem, keeping everything closed. He’s bewildered right up to the point where Shuichi suddenly bends and grabs a hold of him, hefting Taiki onto his shoulder and marching for the elevator.
