Twosday: Communication Error

Nov 26, 2009 21:15

Do you start the difficult conversations OR let your partner start them, to give yourself extra time to think and respond?

I'm going to answer this OOC'ly because Taiki would never admit this type of thing...Which -actually- should answer the question right there.

It...depends on the topic. If it has to do with Shuichi being upset then Taiki will bring it up fairly quickly, hoping to resolve the problem or pacify/reassure/comfort/etc his partner. On the other hand if it is Taiki who has the problem then he will stuff it waaaay down and deny its existence with a vengeance. This usually results in some kind of weird breakdown in which Shuichi finds out anyway because Taiki goes completely off his rocker.

But Taiki is a professional at deflecting. If it is something he doesn't want to talk about then he has absolutely no problem about lying, changing the subject, or distracting the individual. And unfortunately he usually gets away with it. Only when Shuichi becomes unnaturally serious or upset does Taiki fold...Otherwise the conversation is usually derailed by Taiki offering up sex or mercilessly teasing his partner until the blond is so flustered and the topic is so far off course that Shuichi completely forgets.

But the number of "difficult conversations" that have gone unmentioned could fill a book...and Shuichi is at least mostly oblivious to it.

Examples are fun!
-Kids
-New York
-PDA
-Shuichi's problems with Paraguay
-How Taiki feels about Shuichi keeping their relationship under wraps
-Halloween
-Taiki's work
-The future
-Um...The past. There are a lot of things that fall under that...not the least of which are past indiscretions. Shuichi doesn't exactly know just how much Taiki, er, got around. Or about Akito! Fun fact: There's going to be a reunion in the future! =D!
-Shuichi's mother
-Taiki's father

...I think you get the point.
