Say goodBye to the Jeeper... Bye Bye Otie.
The hardest and easiest of the list to complete. Easy because it only took a phone call. Hardest, because I loved that car. I really wanted to make it into a camper. I had owned that car for 15 years. And after all the repairs, upgrades, updates ... it was running the way it should. No Leaks, No Knocks, No problems... Just a shitty driver.
I made the call to a "we buy your car even if it doesn't run" place and they offered to pick up Otie and give me $160. I was thinking I was going to have to wait for Days and then pay someone to take him. So this seemed like a deal. When the guy showed up he saw Frank and thought that he got an amazing deal for $160. and then I showed him Otie and he nearly crapped himself. He declared "It's got no Engine." and then said he couldn't take it for anymore than $100. I hemmed and Hawed for a moment - to not sound too eager - and then agreed. When he tried to get into the car, he was not happy. Where are the Seats? He finally got in and sat on a rolled up sleeping bag and steered while I pushed him down the driveway. He was almost at the end of the driveway when I had to remind him that there was no power steering or brakes. he hit the car dolly at a really high rate of speed. I thought he was going to use the dolly like a ramp and shoot over the tow truck like Duke's of Hazzard! I gave the guys a water, took my $100 and went inside before anything else could happen.
4 down 8 to go.
