Last night was not as List productive as I hoped, but I didn't sit still. I got home before 5pm and there was plenty of Shorts Wearing daylight left so I decided Lilah and I should go outside and find something to do. I started by cleaning the back yard.
I want to take a minute here to point out that cleaning the back yard used to be such a horrible chore and needed to be done everyday, but I mostly did it every saturday. It was a big deal. It had to be wrapped in 3 bags and put in the trash can for Red Oak to pick up. Well now it's not so labor intensive. Lilah has designated an area in the yard as her bathroom, which makes it easier to clean up. Before it was like a very warped nasty easter egg hunt searching every corner of the yard for the yard bombs which could take up to an hour (sometimes longer). Now, 15 minutes once a week... Done. Sometimes I just throw it over the fence. Ok Back to last night's to-Dones
After I cleaned the yard, I started raking the back yard. I worked in the back part of the yard where the spikey sweetgum Balls are. I hate those things.
Mickey eats them when he's at my house and Yaks all over the place. So I'm working on raking them up. I'll put them in the tick farm. I was even raking out the flower beds. I looked up to the top of the tree and there are still a whole bunch of them up there. Seriously, those things are a menace. the lawn mower won't even ick them up, it just shoots them out the bottom of the mower like bullets. I don't have a guard on the back of the mower anymore so when they shoot out the back, they nail my shins and loud Cursing ensues. So I'm cleaning them up.
A bonus to raking is that it causes me to slow down and look around. I haven't been in the back yard in a while and projects I thought were completed years ago ... Aren't. The Platform deck is starting to fall apart. The boards have cracked and split. The yard timbers are rotted and crumbling. Man! My list just keeps getting bigger. Dammit.
We stayed out there till the sun was almost gone. The last thing I did before we went in was fill the bird feeders. I don't fill them for the birds in the back yard. I fill them for Lilah. You see, she loves to chase the squirrels and they love my feeders. When Lilah first arrived, she would sit in the back yard and watch the bird feeders. When a squirrel would show up, she would chase them off. She absolutely loved to do it. But the neighborhood cats figured out that the squirrels were in my back yard and without Dollie Llama the Cat Hater, they had semi-protected hunting grounds back there. So, I have been very lax in keeping the feeders filled and I think Lilah got bored waiting for squirrels that had no reason to show up. And she stopped hanging outside during the day. So, I'm going to make a conscious effort to fill the back yard feeders. I did manage to pull my Landscape Trailer back to my back Yard.
We went in and had dinner. I would love to say I did a bunch more stuff... but I didn't. I watched videos of how to replace a cigarette lighter with a usb outlet. I then made my lunch for today and put it in the fridge... BTW it saved a ton of time this morning. And then I played games on the Ipad and went to bed late. I suck. and I'm tired with no one to blame but myself. But luckily today is a new day and I can start again.
