Last week North Georgia experienced a major Ice storm. Monday Night (February 16th) about 9:00pm, my power went out. So I pottied the dogs, closed up the house and got into bed. This has happened before, and by the time I get up, the power is back on. No big deal. Well... not this time. the power was not restored till around Noon on Thursday the 19th. I didn't get home till 8:00pm that night and we experienced brownouts off and on till around 11:00pm.
I tried to stick it out. Tuesday I was still congested and needed to stay home. But I dealt with trying to keep the house at a reasonable temperature all day. I burned all my cedar scraps which was a good thing. I kind of felt like I was decluttering. I wanted to take this opporunity to clean, but with no electricity Vacuuming was out of the question! My entire house is electric. So I had the choice of the grill or the camp stove to heat food up. I chose eating out. At least on Tuesday. I tried to keep the fire going all night and if anything choked myself with smoke. I knew I couldn't put the babies through one more night of that stress, so I made arrangements for them to stay at the vet till we got power. At least they would be safe & warm. As I was getting into my car, Becky Called. She told me to get the babies out of Jail and get my butt to her house... we were going to stay with her. How awesome is that?
Rose in the mean time had missed all this excitement by about 12 hours - she had left Monday Morning for Tampa...was givng me updates on JacksonEMC's progress. FROM TAMPA! I couldn't even get the info from Jackson directly. But she was keeping me up to date. How Awesome is That?
Lyon gave me his jumper box that also had a USB charger on it so I could keep my phone charged. Instead of keeping it for himself. How Awesome is that?
I have some awesome friends. I am truly blessed.
