After about a week of reading, watching videos, cutting test pieces, climbing up and down the stairs and the ladder to dry fit the test cuts, interviewing Handymen to actually do the job, and racking my brain all over the place trying to do geometry (which I used to be really good at)... Saturday morning I woke up determined to beat this task to a pulp. And I did. I had 2 Odd angle inside corners - 3 boards - 4 cuts to make... And after finally getting one of the corners close, I had made 2 cuts and installed one board... the rest of the job fell into place.
Here is the Before: Here is a close up of Above the door:
You can see the odd angles. They ended up being Left : 132.5° and the Right : 140° But I never would have known what they were if I hadn't bought this Angle finder for $6.
Like I always say... Nord's rule #4 - "If you want to do the Job right... Use the right tool". So after I realized what was missing from the equation, I rectified it by getting the angle finder. It wasn't exact for the left angle... but it was spot on for the right angle. I also did something I don't normally do, I caulked the molding before moving on to the next task. That's a big step. The master Bedroom's Crown is still waiting to be caulked 7 years later.
Next up on this project's task ToDo list: The built in Book Cases.
