10 Things Challenge - Week 9

Feb 09, 2013 22:22

Well,  This week has been a struggle.  Most of my focus has been on getting the camper out of the backyard and to the Camper repair place.  That doesn't sound like that big of a deal... but of course it's me and it turned into an ordeal.  First it was the rain soaked yards.  Tearing up Tommy's yard by driving through the quicksand mush pile side yard on the farther side of his house.  Driving down the road and the bumper falling off... and the only indication I had was that I was having trouble getting up the hill on Elizabeth lane.  Then getting to the shop only to have left the keys and the A/C unit that they are supposed to install at home.  All the while trying to get a hold of a Landscaper that can come and repair the damage I've done to Tommy's yard.  Then more Rain.  And phone calls.  All this while trying to work.

So I've been a little tired.  Plus I think I'm coming down with something.  I'm starting to get very run down and all I want to do is Sleep.  I'm not depressed, so I must be coming down with something.  Yes I'm drinking lots of Juices.

So to get back to the whole - "This week has been a struggle" thing... I haven't been weeding.  Much.  I did go through some of the stuff I had stored in the camper because I had to empty it out before going to the shop.  Because I didn't want to be tripping over everything, I went through it and stored most of it in the garage.  While I was in the garage, I straightened up some of the shelves.  Funny thing, I think most of the stuff on the garage shelves... is empty bins.  So That's a good thing.
  • 1.)  I found some of the scraps of rope from the whole pull the bushes out of the front yard with the jeep project (November 2012).  You know the one - where I snapped 2 ropes and then finally went out and bought chains...  Of course I kept the bigger pieces of the rope because I knew I needed them for something.  Well,Of course that's been a lot of my problem as of late - hence the whole 10 thing Challenge... So as I was going through all the camper stuff Wednesday night - I thought about something I had been wanting to do but just never got around to and this was the perfect time.  I hate picking up the tire chocks every time I move the camper.  They are always muddy and yucky.  I don't like touching them.  Then when I have to carry them, I end up with muddy yuck on my shirt.  So I thought about putting rope handles on them.  Click!  So I put the rope on all 4 chocks like the 3rd picture below.  I was pretty impressed with the job I did.  I even burned/melted the ends before tying the knots so the rope wouldn't fray.  Also I tucked each one of the knots away inside of the channel.  So it looks continuous.  You know... It's the little victories that brightens my day.  1 THING - I ITEM
USED - TAKEN OUT OF STORAGE - PROJECT COMPLETED

  • 2.)  I knew I needed to go to Tractor Supply because I needed new gloves for working outside.  The ones that I liked had worn out and had holes in them.  But for some reason I had kept all the gloves I have ever owned.  Ones I haven't worn in 10 years.  There was even a pair that I know I have never worn (not mine - and guess which ones).  I had them in a drawer in the garage I like to call "The Safety Drawer".  It has several pairs of protective eye-wear, gloves and back support thingee for lifting stuff.  I think there are some wayward band-aids in there too.  I cleaned them all out and I'm throwing 6 pairs of assorted gloves out.  Yes I replaced them with 2 pair of new gloves, but I consider this a total win.  And so do my nails. 1 THING - 6 ITEMS
TRASH - GARBAGE

Cleaning off my workbench ended up being a treasure trove of challenge worthy material
  • 3.)  A light fixture - removed from my office.  It is a real Beaute... I had thought about putting it in the camper and then I woke up.
  • 4.)  A dry erase board - I used to use it to keep score when we played darts.  But since I sold off the dart board in a garage sale years back... I don't need it anymore.  I have one on the fridge that's all I need.
  • 5.)  Rubber hoses for the washing machine - I traded mine out for steel braided ones years ago.  Why I kept these... Not a clue.  Gone!
  • 6.)  a food tent screen - I have had this for some time.  I have never ever used it.  I think its time for it to find a home that will use it.
                                                    4 THINGS - 5 ITEMS

DONATION - GOODWILL

  • 7.) The A/C unit for the Camper.  I have had it stored in my garage for 2 years.  In my haste to get it to the shop early Thursday morning... I forgot to take a picture.  Anyway.  It's gone.  That's all I care.  1 THING - 1 ITEM
  • 8.)  This may be a bit of a stretch... But I actually completed a project that got rid of one thing.  A tube of Caulk.  I Caulked the Crown Moulding in the Guest Room.  This task has been on my list of to do's since I put up the crown moulding in 2006.  I bought the tube of caulk quite some time ago and I couldn't find it... but I did.  On my workbench hidden below all the crap I got rid of.  1 THING - 1 ITEM
USED - TAKEN OUT OF STORAGE - PROJECT COMPLETED

I am adding a new metric (counter).  It's going to keep track of how many things that have been on the EPIC TO DO LIST for quite some time and actually got completed because of this challenge... ok during this challenge.  I just would like to see what the By-product effect this challenge has had in some sort of measurable way.
