10 Things Challenge Project Idea 10 Things Challenge Rules- 1.)As some people know, I used to make my own laundry detergent. I bought all the supplies for like $8 and made about 15 gallons of detergent. It worked great, but I started doing it because of the insane cost ($17) for a gallon of soap at Costco! But I have since found a place where I can get tide or Gain for $7.49 a gallon. I'm ok with that. I had put all the supplies into a container along with the recipe which takes up too much room int he Laundry room. So I removed the supplies and put the container out in the garage with the others. The 3 empty final containers went to recycling, the funnel to the garage (with the other funnels), The supplies... well I'm using them up - Borateem, Super Washing Soda and fels Naptha - 1 thing - 8 items I'm thinking an entire cleanout of the laundry room is warranted.
USE - REMOVED FROM STORAGE -- RECYCLED EMPTY PLASTIC BOTTLES
- 2.)After the car was totaled - I had to empty the car of all it's contents. I took nearly everything. I did leave the jack, but I have the manuals, cargo net and tire tie downs. Basically anything and everything. I put it all in a big Rubbermaid storage tote and it's been sitting in the garage waiting to be put away. I decided to first lay everything out to see what was there and then make piles of Trash/shred - store - put in the Jeep. Nearly everything was put in the car stuff tote - (all car related gadgets/tools/maps/etc... that I don't use right now.) But there was a bunch of stuff I had to shred - tire paperwork, insurance cards, VF Picture ID - I tossed the manuals, empty hand sanitizer thingee, 2 zipper pulls and instructions on how to use the wipers. Cool thing is I emptied another bin. So While I was at it, I emptied the little bin of stuff I pulled out of the Jeep: 3 plex power plug, a bluetooth handsfree device, 2 phone chargers, another tire gauge ( I had 3 in there), a leathermen, spare sunglasses, grocery bags & a box of tic tacs. 1 thing - 20 items
TRASH / SHRED / STORE IN PROPER AREA
- 3.)In November of 2011 Dad gave me a bunch of Landscaping tools - one happened to be a Workx weedeater/edger with 2 - 18volt batteries. I sure liked the idea of it, but the batteries were so wore out it really never got enough power to be used. I looked into the cost of new batteries... 1 cost over around $100. More than the tool itself. So It's sat in my garage ever since with me tripping over it and uttering really ugly things out loud. So It's time for it to go. The apparatus, 2 18volt batteries, 2 spools of line, a wall mountable holder and a charger.... out the door! 1 thing - 7 items
TRASH - GARBAGE
- 4.)Digging through the garage to try and find some bowls for Goss I found some parts of Dog waters that I just couldn't bear to throw away. And now I'm ok with it. I'm not going to find replacement water jugs for them ... Let them go. Just buy a new one. So I will before I take the dogs camping. 1 thing - 3 items
TRASH - RECYCLE BIN
- 5.)Still digging through the Garage Shelves I came across this broken trash can full of Solar light & hummingbird feeder parts. Of all of the parts, I kept one part. Which I will use for a sun jar project. The rest went in the trash. 1 thing - 21 items
TRASH - GARBAGE
- 6.)Now there is the Candle project. I have some numbers from when I did this project before (2005) and 8 years later (2013)
2005 - 78 candles
2013 - 70 candles
After Clean-up
2013 - 65 candles
3 weeks later - 60 candles
That is a total reduction of 18 candles But I am going to only claim 10 items. It's what I have been able to get rid of during this project. It looks like less, but there was a couple boxes of 6 smaller candles stacked in the new batch that throws that number up a little higher than expected.
