Tuesday Turned that Frown Upside Down!

On Saturday, I went to pick up something that I had seen the week before.  I had given myself plenty of time to think about it and realized that it was something I was going to need to get and not miss a great deal.  What I had found was a:

Sony 7.1  STR-DN1020 A/V Receiver ($499.00 retail) for $195.00

A great deal and perfect (maybe a little more advanced) for what I needed it for.  It had an IPOD Dock and 4 HDMI hook-ups.  So I arranged a contingency that if for some reason it didn't work I could bring it back.  I also negotiated an extra day in the return deadline.  So Monday night I tore down the TV - Stereo hook-ups and started to redo it all with the new component installed.  First: I was unprepared.  I didn't have enough HDMI cables.  So at 9:30pm I hit the Home Depot and picked up 2 cables I needed.  At 11:30pm I was nearly done.  All that was left to do was to push the TV back in place and Flip the power switch on.  And when I did.... Pfffffft!  The New REceiver was locked in PROTECT mode.  I was so mad... I unplugged the eFFFer and put it back in the box, Placed the box in the car and searched (till I found) for the Receipt.  I then went to bed... disappointed but not mad.  Which surprised me.

Tuesday, I get to work.  Do a little research.  Found a REplacement Receiver at best buy and a Store in town that has it.  I then leave work a little early and return the bad receiver just as they were shutting down.  And they were pretty cool about it too.  I will go back there for other stuff again.  I then take my money and a Bestbuy coupon for $5 I found in my email and head up to Gainesville and pick up the New Receiver.
Yamaha  RX-371

I spent the rest of the evening hooking it up.  And let me tell you, It was Easy!  No One was more shocked than I.  But the reviews were dead-set right on for once.   It is now hooked up with HDMI cables... So the TV image is much more sharp than it was.  I now have True HD.  I changed out all the cables down to the bare minimum.  Here is the kicker.  I then spent about 30 minutes reprogramming my Logitech Harmony Remote...  I did some reading and research... and I was able to get the Apple TV to work from it too!  ONLY ONE FREAKING REMOTE!!!!

I actually got Technology to work for me the way it was intended  ... For once!

It's funny.  When you have a goal - and you stick to it - it does pay off in the end.
