2009 Lent Gratitude Journal - Day 16

Feeling better...

It sounds so trite.  But it amazes me how bad I must have been feeling.  That amazement brings about gratitude... that I finally did something about it.  I have more energy and I am able to do more.  I find myself just smiling because I am getting things done.  Not just the minimum to keep things moving... but things that had been cut from the routine due to lack of  energy and interest.  The things I consider the basics... boiling eggs, putting away the laundry, emptying all the trash cans not just the ones that are bugging me, getting on the floor and paying with the dogs, cleaning off my desk, keeping up with both email accounts, cleaning the yard, taking the scraps to the back of the yard instead of pitching them in the trash...Little things like that.

I actually was able to do a little geo-maintenance, boil eggs, finish up the laundry I started last weekend, write a bio blurb for a recruiter, redo some of my resume, empty all the downstairs trash, watch 2 episodes of NCIS, find my shoes (first thing I did when I got home)... and of course all the regular stuff - feed the dogs - fish - me, clean the kitchen, fight with Foster to eat, out away toys... The usual.

But what I'm grateful for is the fact I was able to do it all.  I haven't been able nor have I been inclined to for a while.

But last night was what I feel was the first back to my old self.  Remember her?  The energizer Annie that just kept going and going.  I missed her.  I had been wondering where she went.  I'm glad she's back.  Maybe she'll take charge and get things done.  You know she's happy when she gets things done.

So in honor of her return, I'm going to try something new.  I'm just going to keep track of what I get done instead of overwhelming myself with bottomless lists and grandiose projects.  And somedays the to_dones will be many  and other days they will be few.... but that's OK.

I'm just grateful I feel better.
