Hiking stick...
Pictures don't do it justice. And it's not completely done yet. Spent the evening at Home depot looking for big enough in diameter - pipe insulation... And ended up next door at petsmart spending $127 on dog food, fish and a fake rock.
Anyhoo... That's what's still missing.

The stick is smooth and glossy. I have an old boot lace for a strap and the hiking stick medalions are on. Hmmmm I think I need to get some more. They go all around the stick. I have tried to be symetrical. I also have a couple extra duplicate ones, just in case.
I'm looking for a cane tip of 1.25 inches and pipe insulation for a diameter of 1.5. I think I can get handle bar grippy material at a bike shop that should work. I'll give it a whirl.
I count this project done even though it will always be a work in progress.
