I thought I left Kansas???

As I was arriving home last night and navigating around all the road paving equipment/workers at my subdivision entrance, I notice my neighbor outside watching her roof intently. I stop and ask her if it was going to do card-tricks. She informs me that the tornado sirens had just been on for a couple of minutes and then turned off. She also said that there was a huge storm "Coming right for us!!!" I told her that it is customary to sit on top of the roof to look for Tornadoes, preferably drinking a beer. I then started towards my house and thought that someone worried about a storm "Coming right for us!!!" should not being watching her roof do Card-tricks.
Of course I digress; Back to the story...
I get home, unpack the car and as I head upstairs to potty, I yell at Lisa to Call Uncle David to see what the "plan" was.

***BACK STORY WARNING:
A couple of months ago as Tornado season approached, I asked David and Kay (who had said if the weather gets rough come to their basement dogs et al) to put a storm evacuation plan together. What they came up with is referred to as the "plan".
END OF BACK STORY***

Just as I sit down the sirens go off again. Typical. The last time they went off I had just gotten out of the shower. Now I understand why people end up naked in the middle of the street watching their house burn down. There is no opportune time for a Tornado. I quickly finish what I'm doing and head out to the kitchen. Lisa is outside smoking a cigarette and the phone rings. Kay says get over there right now. So I put the bras on the dogs and off we go. We ended up watching the storm roll in on the big screen (and out the back door). David was unhappy because "of course, this happens during Walker Texas Ranger". So Lisa and Kay go upstairs to Smoke. Kay put together dinner from everything that was around, which was really good. And then Lisa and Kay went to smoke. Everything started to calm down and I let the girls out of the basement bathroom and took them home. It was like a big slumber party without the slumber. The only thing that was really missing was ice cream. I took care of that as soon as I got home.

All in all I like the "plan". We just need a little more time so we can go to the grocery store and stock up on the essentials... ice cream and beer.

What I got done this evening:
1. Survived the storm
2. updated my check register
3. put up the coffee mug holder

None of these things were on my To-Do list. Which means I don't get to cross them off.
Thats my favorite part.
Damn.
