Attempts of the Desperate (Part 10)

Jan 13, 2007 12:57

Kyouichi took his seat and waited for the bell. Hiyuu faced forward. Maria droned on with the vocabulary

lesson, writing words and yelling at distractions.

The longer hand reached the top and began its slow decent through the last minute of class. Hiyuu

silently slid his book into his bag and his pencil into his pocket. Kyouichi reached for his bokken.

With thirty seconds left Hiyuu shifted his foot and braced himself. Kyouichi reached out and placed a hand

on his shoulder. Hiyuu smiled and didn't turn.

Ten seconds left and both boys were ready.

The bell rang, Hiyuu stood, jerked his body a foot to the left, and pretended to move his feet as he whized

to, opened, exited, and shut Maria's door before the ringing stopped. Kyouichi, Maria, and the other students

paused to watch the absurd timing, aiding Hiyuu's quiet exit.

The hallway was clear and Hiyuu didn't feel like being subtle.

***

Kyouichi cursed his empty hand and ran for the door. Turning, he saw the long empty hallway. Two

seconds later the doors opened and students poured in. Aoi's concerned voice said something behind

him.
"Move, NOW!" The students eyed the enraged youth, his wooden sword raised high over his head in

clenched hands.

"Kyoui-" Started Aoi.

"Shut up! He yelled as he lept around the stunned people.

***

Hiyuu left through the back door before any student reached the hallway. Outside, the track and basketball

team forced his slowness. Still got a head start.

He calmly walked down the steps and to the gymnasium. The train seemed like a bad idea.

Halfway across the courtyard Hiyuu heard the same door he'd left fly open and bang on the wall. Hiyuu

turned and saw an angry Kyouichi making a beeline for the gymnasium too.

Hiyuu quickened his pace, but Kyouichi was running.

***

Kyouichi scanned the courtyard and saw his target glance over his shoulder at him. He smiled and ran

towards him. He's too bashful to run.

Hiyuu walked quickly from from the school's exit and Kyouichi ran to catch up. Where's he going?

Hiyuu reached the gym and went around the left side. Kyouichi looked at the rail, door way, and window

ledges on the front.

***

Hiyuu passed the left side and turned the corner, pausing to sneak a glance behind him. No one.

He shut his eyes and saw no one on the ground. Did he give up? Hiyuu breathed a sigh of relief, adjusted

his bag, and began lifting slowly off the ground. Should I wait?

***

Kyouichi looked down from the top of the building and saw Hiyuu floating ten feet off the ground and

gaining altitude. Aim perfectly.

***
Hiyuu was twenty feet off the ground when a sudden weight hit his back and dragged him down. With no

time and all his strength he pushed back, reelling under the sensation of unexpected weight. With a painful

strain he slowed their decent and hit the ground with a resounding 'thud'.

***

Kyouichi yelped when they fell.

***

Hiyuu yanked Kyouichi's arms away from his chest.

"What the FUCK is wrong with you? You trying to kill me!?"

Kyouichi snorted. "Isn't this your thing? Why'd you fall the whole way?"

"Do you know how hard it is to control this? It's very sensitive you dumb fuck!" Hiyuu shoved Kyouichi to the

ground. "Do that again and I'll drop you. Got it?" Hiyuu turned away and rose into the air.

***

Oh hell no.

***

Hiyuu looked down at his heavy leg.

"Let go."

"No."

Hiyuu swung left and right, jerked upwards suddenly, spun counter and clockwise, even rushing into a

complete 360 degree flip, both of their feet rising over and behind their heads. Nothing could make Kyouichi

release his legs.

"This is stupid."

"You're right." Kyouichi looked up at the angry face. "Come down; let's talk."

"I'm going home."

"Then you're taking me."

Hiyuu started to retort, but stopped and smiled instead. "Last chance; let go or regret it."

***

Kyouichi saw the smiling face and matched it with his own. "Alright, let's be astronauts." Or that's what he

meant to say.

The loud wind violently whipped at his clothes and hair; the sun became brighter; the clouds rushed at

and behind them; the temperature dropped. His hands tightened before he glanced down...

***

Hiyuu couldn't help but laugh at the scream. Kyouichi scrambled to climb, wrapping his legs around

Hiyuu's feet and his arms around Hiyuu's waist. Hiyuu decided this was high enough. 10,000? 12,000 feet?

Hiyuu giggled from on high. "What's wrong? This is how I get home."

***

The tiny buildings reeled left and right in the wind. Kyouichi's hands were sweating and in an unfamiliar

voice he pleaded.

***

"Put me down and take me back!" Kyouichi stammered anxiously into the sky.

Hiyuu frowned. "Back where?"

"No! Go out with me. But put me down first."

"We were never going out. You're fine."

"Yes we were, we had sex and it was good sex and you know you liked it and please put me down for the

love of the gods."

"No."

Kyouichi cringed but couldn't look up. "No to what?"

"I'm not doing any of that again."

"Hiyuu I know I said some mean things..."

"Mean? They were a little more than 'mean'."

"You're right! I was angry and shouldn't have been and I'm really sorry but if you'll put me on the ground I'll

be the best boyfriend ever and then everything can go back to normal like it..." But Kyouichi had to shut up

because he was falling.

***
Hiyuu watched gravity drag Kyouichi's shocked face down. Hiyuu glared and gave a short wave from the

growing distance.

Normal this.

***

Terror seized Kyouichi's voice and body. I'm going to die. Hiyuu looked at Hiyuu's stone expression, but

when he waved sarcastically Kyouichi snapped into himself.

"You know what? FINE!" Kyouichi yelled up. "And you're still a FREAK!" He flipped Hiyuu the bird as he

sped toward the ground.

***

Hiyuu hadn't expected an insult from the dead man. He flinched and rushed at the falling boy.

"I'm a freak huh? Well at least I'm not dumb enough to hold down a flying person." Kyouichi swung a fist at

the snide face. Hiyuu dodged and glided to his other side. "How is falling, by the way? I've always

wondered."

"So far so good." Kyouichi said between clenched teeth. "And don't think about helping me after you

dropped me. I'd rather die than give you the satisfaction."

"Sounds good."

"Good!" Kyouichi crossed his arms. They fell/glided in silence. "Shouldn't you move? I'd hate to splatter on

your dragon majesty."

Hiyuu grinned. "I can dodge it. Besides, I want to see this."

***

There was barely 4,000 feet left and Kyouichi was out of angry comebacks.

"Er... Hiyuu?"

Hiyuu grinned. "What?"

"Wanna not let me die?"

Hiyuu put his hand on his chin, flipped upside-down and dropped bellow Kyouichi's body. Kyouichi

watched the mock indecisive face from between his legs.

"I dunno. I've always wondered- would you thud or splat from this high?"

Kyouichi looked down. "Splat."

Hiyuu glanced down too. "Yeah, you're probably right."

"On the plus side, if I'm wrong I'll never know it." Kyouichi smiled while saying the joke, but Hiyuu looked

concerned for a second.

Now would be good...

"Look Hiyuu..." Kyouichi began." What I wanted to say is I'm sorry. I'm really sorry for all the stuff I said and

how I treated you. I shouldn't have flipped out like that. Sorry." Hiyuu frowned but listened. "And... don't I owe

you a turn?"

***

Hiyuu's face dropped the sarcasm; he looked away from his falling victim. "What's that got to do with

anything? We're broken up."

"I know, but we still made a deal. I got one and now I owe you one, right? We made the deal with no

exceptions, so even if we're broken up, I still owe you. Anyway, it's yours if you want it." Hiyuu looked

thoughftul. "Though you might want to save me first. Hard to have sex with a squashed corpse. You'd get all

bloody."

Hiyuu's face twitched; 1,700 feet? less?

"Hiyuu, please?"

Hiyuu sighed, spun Kyouichi his direction, placed his chest under Kyouichi's back and wrapped his arms

around his waist. "This may feel weird..."

Kyouichi felt his body slow into a deeper heaviness and heard Hiyuu straining under his breath. The arms

around him tightened and it felt like a thick bubble was growing under his back, expanding up with

him. The wind slowed to a normal breeze and the clouds above them kept a constant distance.

Kyouichi turned his head until his cheek pressed against Hiyuu's mouth. "Thank you."

Hiyuu sighed, dropped their bodies vertical and lowered them slowly. "I'll set you on the ground, but that's

all."

***

As Kyouichi's feet touched ground he threw himself down and tried to hug the earth
.
"Thank the gods." He whispered happily. He glanced over his shoulder st Hiyuu. "Solid earth! Feels SO

good." Hiyuu shrugged and rubbed his arm. Kyouichi rolled onto his stomach. "Wanna lay down?"

"I told you, we're not dating."

"So you can't lay down?"

"Not near you. I'm going home. Don't try to grab me." Hiyuu turned and lifted up...

Kyouichi jumped, snatched the slim shoulders and kissed him.

***

Hiyuu, stunned, fell to the ground at the sudden assault. Somehow that masterful mouth on his felt too

good for flying. Kyouichi's lips were anxious, his neck straining to get deeper into Hiyuu's mouth, taking

more than Hiyuu could give with a kiss. Hiyuu's eyes shut and he watched Kyouichi's yellow-lined face turn

and pivot for a deeper angle, watched his tongue dip, dart, and roll against every wet spot. There were

urgent hands sliding through his hair and pulling at his shirt. Hiyuu willed himself to run away, fly away, or

strike the other boy. Utterly futile urges; he could only kiss back harder.

This will be a memory. Hiyuu thought to himself. A nice memory.

***

Kyouichi was nearing insanity when Hiyuu pulled away and looked him in the eye coyly.

"Why do you like me?"

Kyouichi's hands wavered. "What?"

Hiyuu took a step back. "Well, I'm a freak, a liar, and everything's my fault, right?. So why like me? Why not

leave me alone?"

Kyouichi frowned. "Well... you only lied about the dragon stuff and that's because you had to, right?"

Hiyuu nodded.

"Well now I know that and I'm not angry. You had to lie to stay safe. And I've been thinking about that night

too. I'm glad you were there."

"To take the first blow?" Hiyuu crossed his arms.

"No, to save us by giving us powers."

Hiyuu shook his head."That's not what happened..."

"Look!!" Kyouichi interrupted angrily. " All I know is that we would've died if she hadn't hit you first, right?"

Hiyuu nodded.

"So I'm glad that it happened. We all lived."

Hiyuu wondered. "Are you happy about all of it?"

"Yeah." Kyouichi pulled Hiyuu in for another kiss. "All of it."

***

Hiyuu wasn't satisfied. He pulled away from the arms and stepped back. "Ok, you're not mad. Good. But

that's not why." Kyouichi started to speak but Hiyuu put his finger on Kyouichi's lips. "You like me because..."

***

Kyouichi's gut and groin yearned at the soft touch."You're hot." Kyouichi whispered around the finger.

"Anything else?"

"Smart, a good fighter, and can fly."

Hiyuu smiled. "So that's a plus?" Kyouichi nodded. "And the sex?"

"Best of my life. Can't live with out it."

"And my body?" Hiyuu said pressing his chest against the other.

"Amazing. Can't get enough."

"And if you ever hurt me again?"

"You'll drop me thousands of feet to my death."

Hiyuu nodded slowly and lifted his face to Kyouichi's while running his finger between the open lips. "And

you still want me?"

"Yeah."

"How much?" Hiyuu said licking the back of his finger. Kyouichi growled.

***

Hiyuu pulled back an inch from the taller boy's face and looked into the clouded eyes.

"Good."

***

Kyouichi leant in for a kiss as Hiyuu pulled away. Kyouichi opened his eyes and watched the shorter boy

pick up his backpack.

"Wha-"

"You know what you screwed up."

And Hiyuu zipped away into the sky.
