I closed the motel door with a smile on my face. Just standing there for a second before actually walking away from it. I had a feeling he'd be sleeping for awhile and I'd see him in the morning when he was over to ... make breakfast. For me and Dawn. Weird, but I guess that's just how it is now. Hopefully Willow would be gone or something, so she ( Read more... )

Nodding at her, I gave her a small smile. I probably would end up calling Xander for help. Or talk to him if I walked into him, which was bound to happen. If she thought it was a good idea then I was going to give it a try. At least I can say I've tried it. If I'm going to make an effort, that's a whole different story.

Well no. I probably would try for Buffy's sake. And quite possibly Dawn.

Getting hold of the sign Buffy handed me, I pulled my chellphone out of my pocket. There's no time like the present, isn't that what they say? I've certainly learned that. You never know what happens tomorrow. You might almost die and all your friends might drop you like a stone. Or you might die, trying to safe your sister who shouldn't exist. Like Connor shouldn't exist. I wonder if Dawn and Connor would get along.

Carpe Diem. Cease the day, a very good lesson.

I smiled at Buffy and then walked over to look out over the backyard as some woman on the other side picked up the phone. "Good morning, Madame. This is Wesley Wyndam-Pryce speaking. I'd like to talk about a property of yours..."

The woman on the other end of the line was talking rather fast. Especially when she mentioned the price. I had to ask her to repeat it several times after which I stared at the phone for a while. That couldn't be, I thought, as I glanced around the place. Not with this space and the way it looked. Sure it needed some re-organizing, but as a whole it looked good.

"Are you certain that's the right price?" I asked again. The woman on the other side almost seemed to apologize for it being this cheap. Of course my first thought was that it might be haunted. Not an unreasonable thought on a Hellmouth. But whatever was wrong with it, I could handle it. I've been working in this branch long enough. Besides, I've a Slayer on my side. And...uhm...two very powerful witches.

Hanging up the phone after agreeing with her to come by the office later this afternoon, I turned toward Buffy as she bounded down the stairs again. I put the phone back in my pocket and smiled at her. "It's a...uhm...yay. And at a rather cheap price." I frowned at that, looking around again. "I think we may need to look around a bit better, there has to be something wrong with this place."
