squall

yesterday afternoon seagulls wheeled around the columns of the library, smoothing neat halfmoon swatches in the thick, cold air. i love their screams. they remind me of SD: the land i call home…

meanwhile, i knew that they were promise of what's to come: a storm!

& it was glorious! i was too sick to be a baller…but the raindrops splashing off my eyelids just about made up for it!

meanwhile, i went back to sleep after the prayer meeting & didn't get up until noon! whoopee!!

RAIN:
drops sputtering to the canyoned asphalt
splashes circle

if i could pick that circle up
i would wear it like a crown

(John helped me find the word ‹‹sputter››, i said random things & he demonstrated the sounds they make, until we got to rain & he said something like ‹‹khsshhukoo››, which he says means thunder & lightening, but i thought of the sound a candle issues when the flame dies)

Ephesians 5:1-2
Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
